reversing camera

just saw it in the accessories catalog.

so is this thing standard with navigation system or wha?

or any prices to get this installed...

just curious.. not really needed but i think its pretty cool

There have been reports here that the navi will come with weather reports; it would be great if it also had the backup camera (like the IS350 has).

That would also save me some money on PDC!

Not standard on the e90, obviously, but I'm guessing you're asking about the e92?

The backup camera is not standard but traffic update is included on the new coupe if you get nav. That is why Nav is 2100 in the coupe and 2000 in the sedan as of now.

i saw something in some bmw magazine and a commercial on night vision

but i think its only for 5 series... anyone know?

With all the sue happy idiots who walk behind ya cars in parking lots and act like ya better not hit me...I think it's a great idea....crowded school areas with small kids...and even safety..love it about time I love the idrive gives trouble at times...why do the germans have to lay down to tech gadgets when it come to their cars the japanese are not all world

Night vision is pretty easily accomplished --you just need an infrared light source. Try this with an infrared LED and any normal video camera... you'll get night vision.

So to accomplish reverse-cam (if you already have nav), get the TVandNav2Go module and hookup a backup camera with built in infrared LEDs. Probably end up costing you about the same price as the OEM backup cam, but you get a bigger screen, night-vision, and the ability to play dvds/ps2 on your idrive screen.
