It's funny that you posted this because I finally bought and installed a Thule roof rack on my 325i this weekend. The rack mounts directly into the four fix points on the roof of the car and most importantly, does not touch the car at all so it won't scratch the roof of your car. Finding this rack was a major hassle because even though Thule sells this rack in Europe they do not import it to the US. I called Thule and they were not even sure if they would import it to the US in the future. I found a UK retailer and had it shipped to me. http://roofracks-roofboxes.co.uk/. I sent them a bunch of questions before I bought the rack and they were very helpful. Shipping was only 1 week from order to receipt.
What you need is the Thule 751 footkit, fitting kit 3010, and the cross bars. The entire set up is 118 GBP (about $225) and that includes shipping. Once you have the roof rack you can install any type of bike rack you want. I have not had a chance to take any pictures yet but if anyone is interested let me know and I'll try to get to it. |

I had the BMW base rack on my E46 with Thule # 592 bikerack since the one from BMW is not as good as the one from Thule so I choose to go this setup. Or you can give Thule a call and see if U.S dealers can get these parts for you locally.

I have the base support system (BMW), and the snowboard attachments for it. It is a perfect fit, and carries snowboards with ease!!!
I would assume the bike rack would be similar.... |

Sorry...I don't have any pics of my own, but here is an example of what my bike looks like:
and an example of my cycling team member's bike: We always transport them on top....never had any issues.

Well if those babies fly on the top of your car, I suppose my cheap Lightspeed can put up with rain, grit and bugs. |
