It would be a monster if done right. I just hope some of the vendors start developing something for the I6 Gas Twin engines.

I think the 2 small turbos were chosen to generate faster spool up time and better response time more than space. |

Good luck with that. According to BMW, they tuned the 335 down to 300 lb.ft because the tranny wasn't strong enough for more.
Unless you have ideas for a replacement tranny..... |

I'd like to see this as well. Aren't there people with E46 M3s that are modded with over 300 torque with the stock tranny?

I think manufacturers rate their trannies conservatively because they plan for it to last under abuse and for a long long long time. For example, a T56 tranny that comes on the Camaro is rated to withstand 450lbs of TQ and the company even have a TQ management limiter on it on anything beyond 350TQ, but im pushing close to 750TQ on it with no problems now (ECU flashed to eliminate TQ management). I only changed the clutch to make it work. Im not saying I want to push the 335 or 535 that far... I was looking more at a 350-400rwhp 400-450rwtq daily driver that is fun to drive and can haul the family in safety and comfort.

I just did a quick search, and I couldn't find the article I was thinking of. I can't remember where I read it either, I've read so much about this damn car in the past few months, both online and in print. I'll keep looking though.
But you're right, BMW is going to be conservative because they want the least amount of failures as possible. Most transmissions and drivetrain components will probably be able to support a good amount more than 300lb.ft. Unfortunately, the usual way to test the limits is to push it until it breaks. Unless this transmission is used in other cars as well. Then we can cheat and take information from people who have pioneered this sort of thing. |

The hardest thing going to be tuning the car. I dont know if any vendors carry a piggy back that runs with the stock PCM. I would like to know how is BMW running the ECU with boost. Are they using a MAP 2 bar sensor or just a MAF?
