Clear Bra an entire car!

Here's a wild idea; why not clear bra an entire car? Sure it might cost $1,000 or more but never again would you have to worry about scratches or someone keying your car. I just did some testing with the 12x12 piece of 3M Scotchguard (Clear Bra) I got today and apparently no matter how hard you press, it's nearly impossible to leave a key scrape through a clear bra. Has anyone else ever thought of this idea? Forget preventing rock chips and such, preventing getting your car keyed is a whole lot better. And if it's covering the entire car, you wouldn't see any lines showing where a clear bra was installed like for example if you just clear bra half the hood. I think it's a cool idea but woud like to know if you guys can think of any downsides to this.

if it bubbled it would look awful, it may actually just look awful anyways with the coating on the paint

I wonder if it'd even be possible as a thick film wouldn't bend easily aroune corners

Apparently it bends just fine for application on mirrors and headlights.

Yeah that would be pretty cool. No more 2-day Zaino applications required.

Sounds good in theory but could you get a deep shine?

You'd be better off getting a complete wrap like the public transportation buses and get paid for advertising.

Trust me I thought about it.

If 10 or more E90 owners got together on this, you could make some serious cash during the summer months.

Those traveling billboards make 30K a month and there's only 1 of them.

Plus they don't draw nearly as much attention as the 3er does.

Just a thought.

That's just out of control now. When's the last time you got a ding on your roof? With that type of mentality, you might as well clear bra the car, dip it in line-x, then park it in a hermetically sealed bubble and watch yourself age while the car stays fresh...

Other then that, it's just not practical, but that?s just my opinion. If it were some vintage classic, I might be able to identify, but an 06' 330i? Cmon now.

Do it. I don't mind you get some advertising pay during this Summer. How much can I get? 10 grands for 3 months?

Hell, for $30K I wouldn't mind painting my car with someone's ad. I'd keep it on there for 3 months, then spend $10K to get the entire car repainted and go buy an M5 in cash.

Where do I sign up?

It's not that easy, and the wrap is just like a clear bra. It comes off without harming your paint.

Trust me, I work in radio advertising and we do our station vehicles all the time for different promotions.

30K would be a minimum per market. You'd have to split that with the other advertising partners involved in the market.

But it could be done with some co-operation.

Think of the press if every member on here was involved and these E90's started popping up all over the country with a full body Geiko wrap or promoting some big movie coming out this fall.

It could be done...

Damn man, you're really starting to get me thinking here. But what would be our edge over just any other person sticking advertising on their car?

Also, when you say $30K per market what do you mean by that? What are you classifying as a "market?"

Clear guarding the whole car would be VERY expensive. It would probably be around 6,000.00 or more.

Well, you wouldn't need the roof done so does that take off $5K?

Maybe Ryan would do it for me for $800 if I bought all the materials?

Per market means each state. There are 50 markets and the top 25 advertising markets get the majority of the dollars.

For example, if you had 15 cars in a large city you'd have to split the 30K with the other participants. Which would give each person 2K a month over the advertising period.

Why don't you invest in that film/paint thing? Where it looks like you repainted the car, but it's entirely film, so if the film gets in too bad of a condition, you just remove it and the paint underneath is perfect.
