Hai guise (Gas milage question)

Hello,

I have a black 128I automatic and I'm averaging 19.9 MPG? Does this sound correct? I do all city driving and I drive VERY conservatively.

One other thing; I have only seen one 1er in the Lisle, Naperville, area. I saw a black 135i in target's parking lot in Woodridge several months ago. Are there that few 1er's around?

Thanks for good replys . .

My 128i is a 6 speed manual and is driven mostly on the highway or back roads - averaging 27.5 mpg overall (using primarily 93 octane). Maybe you can try cruising a few hundred miles at 65~70 mph - I've managed 32.5 mpg under those conditions, with no A/C & no headwind. As my worst is 22.5 in city/suburban driving, your 19.9 doesn't sound too bad. However, are you resetting the OBC after each fill-up and double-checking the fuel economy by calculating actual miles traveled divided by gallons used? I discovered that while my OBC is pretty accurate, my odometer is about 1 1/2% slow, so my gas mileage is a bit better than I initially thought. Also, even though "break-in" is supposed to be 1,200 miles, my mileage didn't start really improving until about double that.

I think you may be able to do better than that after the break-in period. I have a 135i vert and gas milage was around 17.3 for the first 2K miles or so. Now my average is about 21.7. But I do do a lot of driving with the top down. Just give it time. Ohh hold on. 19.9 in mostly city. Thats not bad at all. It will improve in time.

I have a 128i Coupe with 12,000 miles and my gas mileage keeps getting better. I drive mostly city and was getting about the same mileage, upper teens. Now I am getting about 22.5.
