Help On Rear View Mirror & Bluetooth Retrofit
my friends 07 e92 328i (coupe) doesn't have dimming mirror w/ homelink nor does he have bluetooth.
i search for the dimming mirror w/ homelink and came up with this part #: 51 95 0 421 325, but when you search it it comes out to something else. anyone have the mirror part # and part # for the bluetooth retrofit? are both the mirror and bluetooth plug and play or does the car need programming after install? thanks guys.

homelink mirror is plug and play, but you need the wiring dongle to hook it up if you don't have the auto dimming mirror. look in the DIY section for a write up. It's a stand alone part, so no reprogramming is necessary.
I think bluetooth is more complicated though, and probably requires a reprogram, since it has to interface with the stereo unit. |

There is a bluetooth retrofit kit for cars not equipped with it. You need to have option S640 or S639. I believe the parts total is around $1200.00 plus labor. You need to buy a TCU and the FZD which is the switch unit where the sunroof button is and a bunch of other parts to complete it.

There's an exhaustive writeup on the bluetooth retrofit in the electronics subsection of this site. Look for a sticky thread. You will need reprogramming, a TCU, FZD, and several other misc. parts. Cheapest I've seen it done was in the $400 range using parts from a salvage yard. You're looking at about $800-900 buying parts off ebay or Tischer. I went the Tischer route, parts cost was about $800, and my dealer did the programming for free (alongside a Sirius install I did and paid for).
I did the homelink/autodim mirror myself as a DIY. There's a thread for this in the DIY section. ebay mirror was about $160, wiring dongle from Tischer another $25. No programming needed. |
