What RPM to launch

I am reading people with 60' of like 1.9. I would like to get feedback as what RPM you guys are launching. Keep in mind I currently have a SS/TT and might be upgrading to JB3.

Also what kind of tires you guys think is best for this application.

I'm launching at 2k RPM on my stock runcraps. 1st gear I find I do better shifting at 5k RPM, then riding 2nd & 3rd to redline and 4th to as far as I can before passing the line.

I'd appreciate other members input on their usage of first gear. I find that it climbs RPM's quickly, and has too much torque for my stock run flats. This is why I find myself shifting early into 2nd. Around 5k in first gear (before/after) I can feel the tires not gripping.

Another valuable thing to know, would switching to stickier tires require me to take first gear all the way to redline?

I'm thinking of trying 1/8 mile tracks just to work on shifting 2nd to 3rd faster. There's an 1/8 mile track closer to me than the nearest 1/4 mile track. Would this have any merit or be just a waste of time.

The first gear in the 135 is ridiculously low at something close to 4.06. I have a 135i with the dinan S2 package and i try to get out of first as fast as i can. I launch just under 2 depending on how sticky the road may be.

Launch at around 2200, but I'm not very experienced and am just going by feel. I also notice that if I run to redline in 3rd that it bogs so I short shift from 3rd to 4th. I'm new to turbo vehicles, which differ substantially from NA in feel, so any input is welcome.

Jcrewsn, I feel the power loss at just after 5k RPM, but I'm still taking it to red, I find I have more power when I shift into 3rd and 4th if I take it to redline, than if I shift early. Maybe it's just a feel, rather than truth.

I guess I'll have to get a few timed runs to find out which is better for me.

Are you shifting into 2nd early as well, or are you taking first to redline?

Yeah, I just got a 135i after switching from an srt8 jeep....took to strip for the first time on friday night. The best I could do bone stock was 13.20 with a trap speed of 106.25.......I brake stalled to about 1500, hold down dsc for 5 sec, shifted 1st to second at about 5000 and the rest of the shifts around 6300 or so. This is on an automatic.... 1.9 was my best 60ft
