Why block/erase the Plate Number when posting pics?

Questions... Why is it that when posting pics of their cars... most of owners erase/block their license/plate number? what is the worst thing if someone knows your plate number? I just wonder...

I never really understood this either..I mean if someone sees your car in person they know your plate numbers also and they can do something to it..
It's not like someones going to drive all over the city just to find you
and its not like someone can hack your car on the internet and give it a virus or some shit

Been doing so for 10 years and no harm has been done, you guys live life too carefully, you'll never get out of it alive anyways

I am really serious asking those questions...

I understand the risk if I am like one of the members who has 20 other exotic in his garage or I am hollywood actor but... im not... so I dont really see it as risk... now if this is lambo / ferrari forum... and we all have one... we better not show the plate because bad guys can track us and maybe break in on our house take the exotic and gone... but BMW is really common these days..

If someone wants your plane number and want to harm you, they will do it whether you post here or not.....

As far as your SSN# and other stuff is concerned.... it is not something that you go around everyday displaying it unlike your license plates out in the strees.....
