Motor 4 Toys

Ho ho ho Merry Christmas!!

Tis the season to go see some awesome cars, and give toys to kids that wouldn't have them otherwise. That's right kids, it's time for MOTOR4TOYS.

It would be really great if some SoCal based 1ers could all get together for this event. I will for sure be there, as will my g/f in her MINI Cooper S, a buddy in his M6, another buddy will hopefully bring his 911. But, please the more the merrier. if you can spare 2 hours of your time this coming sunday, come on down and add to the spirit. If you can't come down, but would like to donate toys, I would be happy to deliver the toys to the event for you. I would even be willing to come by people's homes to pick up the toys. Sort of like a reverse Saint Nick.

And hey, even if you are a bah-humbug-kinda-type-of-person, just come on down and look at all the incredible vehicles.

If you are in the LA area, please try and come to this event. It has been getting bigger every year, and they are really trying to do some good for the community.

I just read that they organizers are trying to get a world record for the Largest Ferrari Parade. The goal is for a 400+ car, Ferrari Parade. That'll be a sight to see, for sure.

edit: heheheheh, just noticed that this was post #135 for me....hehehehehehe....

Wow, what a great time. We attended this event with our 2 cars, my g/f's '06 MINI Cooper S, and my '08 135i.

The day started with us meeting up with one of our local MINI clubs, SoCal MINI Maniacs. Village Coffee Roaster, in Calabasas was our meeting point. Same location as SuperCar Sunday. Woohoo!!! As luck would have it, that is where the Cobra club met up too, along with their LAPD escort. So we snaked a spot in back of the Cobras, and paraded over to the Car Show location with a full police escort for about 5 miles. Imagine this sight, 30+ Shelby Cobras, at least a dozen other sports cars, 15 MINIs, and a handful of other cars, heading down Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills with a full police escort stopping traffic at every intersection, and letting us just sort of take over the street. Folks were coming out of restaurants and other businesses to check it out. It was a real blast, and was pretty fun to be part of.

At the event location we all grouped up in our respective Marques areas. Me with a bevy of Z8s, an M5, a Z4, a Z3, nice older M6, and as luck would have it, a VERY VERY VERY nice 135 that parked right next to me. MMMM....Roy, your car is so nice. CF interior, CF Mirror Caps, CF Diffusor, CF Wing....so much goodness...Bummer was I missed hearing him start up the car & drive off. He has the performance exhaust, and I was really interested in hearing it in person.

What can I say about the show itself, it's a big car show, with tons of cars to see. But, with the added bonus of a HUGE amount of toys being given to needy children. There were also cash donations going to toys for tots, in the way of an auction, and charity rides in various exotic cars. Pretty darn cool of the LAPD. They pretty just turned a blind eye to people being given these rides in Cobras, Ferraris, Porsches, etc..."go have fun, and make $$ for the needy kids" seemed to be their overall policing goal.

Kudos to the Village Coffee Roaster for being such an integral part in organizing this event. Way to go!!
