Racing Brakes
Can someone explain why give the same rotor size, pad compound and hi-temp brake fluid will calipers designed for racing perform better than the fairly robust ones on a 135i...sans the ceramic piston insert that is.
What makes racing calipers stop a car better and fade less? |

The design of the calipers makes a huge difference. Stiffness and weight are two aspect that makes a difference. Flex can be reduced by the number of bolts that hold the piston together (and where they are placed), whether it is monobloc or not, materials used etc. Another thing that a good racing caliper design does it direct the fluid piping away from the rotor which generates a lot of heat.
