135i M Sports Package Brakes vs BMW Performance Brakes

I am considering to get a 135i with the M sports package, and realised that the brake size they have printed on their catalogue says "High-Performance brakes painted with BMW lettering with inner-vented 17" front and rear brake discs". Just wondering if it's really that big or was it just a typo? How does it compare to the BMW Performance Brakes: 34 11 0 443 865? (the ones with the yellow calipers) Also, what is the standard 135i size brakes, and how does that compare with the BMW Performance ones?

Thanks in Advance,

I thought the 17" inch were standard on 135i ?? I know this from these exclusive bits for the 135i , I've seen alot of people refering to the 135i as 135i M sport , or sport package . Does that mean that it would have additonal M features other than what is listed here ?

The 135i comes with the peformance brakes standard. The yellow brakes in the catalog are the same exact thing, just a different color. They're meant as an upgrade for the 128i.

That has to be a typo. The discs can't be 17" in diameter.

Like somebody else said, they are the same, just painted different, and with with drilled rotors instead.

Some people here found out the hard way.

I have ordered them for my 135 so they are available for the 135i also. They have to give some sort of performance upgrade otherwise the bmw would not say so. Apart form the looks which is stunning!

Misprint. Rotor diameter is 13.3". (Or is it 13.4"? how about this for an authoritative post? )

Anyway, they are smaller than the 335i discs which I know for sure are 13.7".

well this is found in the 2008 and 2009 catalog, can't believe they would miss it in 2 editions? I'm thinking of sending BMW an email about this to see what they say

Only the 21" X5/X6 optional wheels could possibly fit over a 17" rotor. It is a misprint, pure and simple.

Send them an email, see what they respond...

Maybe not, if we can determine if the Performance caliper piston is different/better material.

Where has it been determined that the Performance calipers and stock calipers are, in fact, the exact same. I can't seem to find proof of this anywhere on the forum.

It's been verified, unless something changed. I'll try and find where it was discussed. I think even Dan from United BMW confirmed it.

Pav, it's just another for BMW to make you feel unique. Same stuff, but cooler color!

EDIT.. Ok here's a couple threads that says rear rotors are same, pads are same, and people think the calipers are same too. Still looking for more info.

Thank you all for the overwhelming amount of replies. I now know for sure that it was a misprint in the catalogue. But the link posted on the brakes of the 135 has gotten me a bit worried. Might be considering the yellow brakes if they are truly different.

To JohnnyTT: could you repost the link cos i think you forgot to add it in on your last post.

I was interested in the upgrade, stopping is important but even the sales guy told me they are exactly the same as the stock ones.. just yellow and slotted. Not worth the coin considering I just changed the rotors on my GTR to similar rotors on the 135 for 400 AUD.

The brake upgrade in AUS was 4000 or so from memory. Talk about a profit margin! The stock brakes on the 135 at the moment are pretty damn good!

Thanks JohnnyTT.

Seems like the guy in the first thread said that there will be minor differences noticable only if you push the brakes to the limits, like in a track. So there is a slight difference in the front disc brakes, however, since the rear brakes aren't slotted/cross-drilled, it looks as if it's the same as the stock brakes at the rear.

Here in Singapore, the brakes also cost about 4k+ SGD, which is about the same as aus$. So I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it for the money for such a slight performance increase.
