Probably not many people have replaced pads yet, unless you are racing. It will be the same as any other disk brake car. Off the wheels, remove the calipers, unclip the pad retainers, remove pads, reverse to reinstall.

Yea but you know. These days it seems like every time someone thinks that, there's some dumb "trick" you gotta know or you'll be swering all day trying to do it the wrong way. I'm betting it's the same as a 3 series. Maby check the E90 boards?

To bump this back to the top and to get some input for a new-b looking to replace pads on his own. . . I'm assuming steps 1 & 4 (in the link above) need to be done to get the caliper off - what about step 3 w/ re to the break line? Can anyone input on what else needs to be done? General walk through would be useful (even if no pics) just so I have an idea of how difficult this actually is... so I know if I want to pursue trying to figure it out myself / trying to find more instruction? Anyone??

Have you worn out your pads? What are you replacing them with? Be careful, some racers in Australia melted the ceramic inserts in the calipers by putting the wrong type of pads in.
Try having it done at any performance auto garage. Watch them while they do it. Pick up a Haynes manual, for some good pictures of brake pad replacement procedures. |

if you have replaced pads in your previous vehicles, then replacing pads on your 1 isn't that much different. 7mm allen, big screw driver, and large channel locks. all you need.
