Well it looks like I am going to go with the BMW unit and a RockyMounts bike mount since it does not touch the paint and it will fit my bike better.

I'm pretty sure all the racks will touch your paint at least a little bit. I don't think it's possible for a rack to not touch the paint. The Thule racks come with rubber feet for the part that does touch your car so it won't damage the paint. Just let me know if you change your mind!

I know they all touch a bit If I can just find pics of the actual Thule rack for the 1 series installed with close-ups of the feet and the attaching hardware. I just don't want something that they made work for the car.

We have not had any customers buy the Thule rack for the 1 series yet, so unfortunatley I don't have pictures of it on the car. Below is a picture of a 335 owner that put the Thule rack on their car. They were very happy with it :thumbup:

I'm ready to buy a roof rack to hold two bicycles, and I'd like to see close-up photos of the mounting points and read real-world thoughts on it.

I have the rack but have not had time yet with Thanksgiving coming up and I also have a wedding to go to this weekend. I am hoping that by next weekend I can get it up and take some pics for you guys.
