Sharpie Marker vs. Leatherette

Anyone have expereience removing a Sharpie stain from Black Leatherette?

My daughter was trying out for a cheerleading team and to keep track off approx. 100 10 year old girls, the coaches decided to number all the girls with Sharpies.

After tryout daughter hops in to car with sweaty legs and transferred some of the red Sharpie onto the leatherette. Now there is an orangish, ghost mark of a zero on the outside corner rear driver side seat.

Any thoughts on removal or tinting stain??

Thanks

Try using an ethanol based solvent and try to blot out the stain with a towel or some such. I wouldn't advise acetone, as that might mar the leatherette. If you don't have anything with ethanol, you could try using a product that Expo makes called the Board Doctor. It's a marker product which is designed to remove permanent marker stains from whiteboards, so it might very well help with you seat as well. I used one once to help get a sharpie stain out of my girlfriends sweater. You can find the marker at an Office Depot or some such.

Whatever you do, try it out on a small part of the seat first, to make sure you don't mar the surface. Hope you get it out.

~ best bet... rubbing alcohol. (works well for ink...may work on marker).
