rust

So today while washing the car i noticed that the driverside keyhole is starting to turn rust brown... what giveS?

anyone else noticing this?

Is there anything I can do?

This happened to me too. I think it's just because I've never ever used it so the rust is never scraped off by a key. I'm not sure what to do about it. Maybe polish it with a brush somehow?

Do you have a keyhole in your doors? I only have a keyhole in the trunk, hidden above the nuberplate..

i believe the american version of the 1er is the only one with a keyhole for the drivers door... mostly for valet services.

i dont think its grease, i'm talking about the keyhole, not the valet key which was full of grease. I guess i can call my service dpt, but bmw service sucks around me.

Shoot a little WD40 in and around the keyhole. Use the red straw in the nozzle to prevent overspray.
