headlights steamy
Hello everyone. I am having an issue with my 128i that I just noticed today. We have been getting a lot of steamy sticky humid days here lately. Well today I went out to get something from my car and I noticed that the front passenger's headlight was all steamed up and it looked like there was so much moisture in there that it was dripping down the front of the inside of the housing. Is this normal? I know just a small amount shouldn't be too bad, but this was like something that you would have pulled out of a hot steamy dishwasher if you know what I mean. I will see if I can get a picture of it tomorrow. I don't know what the dealership will do for me, they will say it's normal lol.

Did you install aftermarket halo ring bulbs, or open that light compartment?
If not, you have two choices... 1. take it to the dealer or 2. see if the cover is partially off on your own. On the back of the headlamps, there are two wire "bitch clips" (as we affectionately call them) that seal the headlamp unit, yet allow access for lamp replacement. If both are snapped into place, you have a leak in the seal elsewhere... take it to the dealer if that's the case. |

i had opened the back of the compartment, but didn't touch the front of it at all. I will double check to make sure that it's closed properly. I had opened it up like a month ago, and just started with the issue.

I bet you didn't seat the cover correctly, got something, like a wire in teh seal (allowing condensation), or didn't snap the clips on correctly.

I double checked it this morning, and it was sealed fine. I washed the car, and it looks like it got worse, but now it looks like its getting some what better. I touched both headlights and the other one is fine. I don't think the seal on housing is right. I am going to take it by the dealership either tonight or tomorrow.

Both my fogs... well... fog periodically. I can't stand to be without the vert on a sunny day so I don't know when I'll take em back

In other cars you simply leave them out in a hot, sunny day and usually that does the trick.. I say lets boycott the US Spec headlights!! the amber inserts are exerting positive pressure that's causing the seals to fail!!!
