Why no elbow rest for right hand drivers?

I wish car manufacturers would put an elbow rest on the door sill on right hand driven cars. When you are cruising one handed, I rest my elbow on the door frame and after a few mins it gets painfull and have to move it off. I can see a small dent appearing on the door sill where my elbow has left an impression.

After all, you can rest your left arm on the middle rest, why not put one on the right?

Why aren't you driving with both hands on the steering wheel?

lol, it's not comfortable on long cruises and I thought only driving instructors and police drivers still used two hands

I always use 2 hands... especially as I tend to drive quite quickly. You never know when some ejit is going to pull a stupid move or you get a blow out at 100+!!!

If I'm just doing some relaxed cruising where this isn't much traffic, then it's one handed for me.

Otherwise it's two hands all the way, as the level of control and feedback you have is so much better if you're driving quickly

Think I will look around for an arm rest to fit the right side door, got a long drive planned in a few weeks and intend to do most of it one handed.

both hands on wheel for me most of the time too, gives the best feedback and control, and with sucha good driving position isn' uncomfortable.

I'll admit that i do slip into motorway mode and then need somewhere to rest my elbow.. the sil would be fine if they padded it.

Guess I'll have to drive with my left hand.. won't be so convienient leaving just the right hand free for the laptop on the passenger seat and coffee in the cup holder though lol!!

I think you would still have the problem driving in the states, except it would be your left elbow instead of right that had nowhere to rest. Come on BMW, pad the window sills !!
