Sunroof trim

The trim around the sunroof exterior seems to be made of felt or some other high-static material. Anyone have any good tips for cleaning this, and more importantly - keeping it clean?

I've used a lint roller and scotch tape to clean the thing and found that the tape works better since it is easier to keep away from the paint.

The problem is, as soon as I drive 15 feet the felt trim picks up all the lint and dust that slides off the Zaino-protected paint surfaces of my 1.

Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas/solutions? (Aside from ordering a non-US car or a vert .)

[edit: a picture is worth a thousand words:]

Yep, I noticed this on my first wash. No idea what can be done about it. Very annoying.

I knew I wasn't the only one. I think your idea with tape will work the best.

I wish I could remember what I did with my 2000 GTI-VR6. Same sunroof and believe same manufacturer. That car was Jet Black, and the felt is black also. My 1er will be SGM like you tho. Tape sound like a perfect solution, as long as it does not bother the paint.

T-minus 10 days till delivery.

Blue masking tape should work, and won't bother the paint
