Sport vs. Non-sport suspensions

Has anyone been able to compare the 1-series sport vs. non-sport suspensions? I searched and was not able to find any info.

Thanks!

My first post but I think I can help as I have a 128i on order and struggled with whether or not to get the sport package. I currently drive a Boxster and have test driven the 128i coupe with sport and without, 128i convert with sport and the 135i. I ended up ordering the sport package on my 128i.

I was looking for a car that is fun to drive but more comfortable than the Boxster which has been my daily driver for the past 2 years/40,000 miles.

The dealership where I ordered the car was great and I had the opportunity to drive the 135 and 128 (non-sport) a number of times on side roads and the highway. I only drove the 128 with sport once but it was a good test drive, not an around the block type of thing.

The 128 with the sport package has a completely different feel than the non-sport car. It even has a different appearance/stance because of the slightly lower suspension.

I didn't find the sport package car to ride noticeably harsher than the non-sport car. In fact, I think the 128 with sport is the ideal combination of handling and ride quality for me.

The steering in the car with sport is more linear and you get that planted to the road feeling.

I drove over some rough roads and potholes - the car with sport handled them just fine.

I also found the sport seats to be more comfortable than non-sport.

Just my opinions of course, you may have different perceptions depending on what you drive now and what kind of ride you're looking for. The car with sport rides much nicer than the Boxster and still handles great. The 135 was smoother too for that matter.

Hope this helps.

I've driven Both

Drove 128i sport and non-sport. The sport suspension was perfect. Connected to the road feeling without the harshness of some sport suspensions. The non-sport did too much leaning for my taste. The sport package is a real bargain when you experience the difference it makes.
