Let's remove/install doorsills

The Doorsills are held in place with 6 clips. To remove the doorsills, you will need to start at one end and release each clip. I started at the front end of the door sills and worked my way back.

Use an Interior Trim Removal Tool to un-dock each clip. If you have one with a V shape on the end, you will be better off as you can get on each side of the clip.

Slowly work your way to the other end and the door sill will be removed.

The back of the doorsill looks like:

With the doorsill removed, you can install the new doorsill. Installation is simple, simply line up the clips with their respective holes and push down until the clips dock.

Looks fairly simple. Are you selling the M door sills on your site? I don't see them. Thanks.

Hey Andy,
Did you notice any pigtails or other wiring to use for the illuminated doorsills when you had them off?

There is no wiring. Looking at the instructions for the illuminated doorsills, you have to drill the holes to route the wiring.

yeah I would really like to put in the illuminated doorsills to match the illuminated door-handles. If anyone has done this, how difficult was it to do? where did you get the replacement doorsills?

Thanks in advance!

See the BMW 1er accessories book. Retail is $585 for the set. Installation looks pretty involved for what they are, but I have not installed them so I can’t speak from experience.

As for illuminated shift knobs, you just need to know where to look.

They are the stock ones from my 135i. I kept them and sold the M ones.

Do the new door sills come with the white plastic pins or do you have to transfer them over from the stock?
