Fuel pump malfunction

I just saw these thread and tought it might be useful for some of the lucky 1 owners.

During my 1200 mile break in period, I experienced about half a dozed prolonged engine starts (2-3 seconds) after pushing the start button. A yellow engine light would then come on and the car would go into limp mode(partial power). I just shut the car down and restarted and the abnormal conditions went away. I finally took the 1 into the dealer to get the situation evaluated and the tech told me that my engine was throwing a fault code for my fuel pump. Tech stated that he usually sees this problems on 330's but that the good news is that once it is replaced, there are never any more problems. Tech further stated that a 1 was in yesterday getting the same problem fixed.

I hope that this is an isolated incident but thought everyone should at least be aware.

It is not an isolated incident and was a not too common fault on the 335i.
BMW was supposedly to have fixed this problem with the 135i.

thanks for this reminder carlos. from a quick browsing of other posts (and a "hate mail" type post from a non-BMW owner) it had appeared to me that this was a longstanding issue on the N54. rumors spread like wild fires so who knows the fluff from the truth, but it seems that apparently even production was stopped just to fix this issue recently. in any case, i hope it is solved once and for all.

Well in the end if some of us are unlucky to get that, still its under the warranty, so it'll be easily solved.

I think some of the early 135i's will suffer from this. Apparently they have delayed production and are working on a fix I thought I read in another thread?
