Cars are on display at the dealership

Ok so who else went to have a nosy this morning? I did. Granted I live 2 mins from my dealership and physically walk past their car park every morning on the way to work. 1 sedona red 135i coupe, 1 silver 125i vert and 1 130i hatch on display. Sedona doesn't look half bad under the lights. :w00t:

BMW Melbourne? I must admit, the Sedona Red is growing on me. It's a unique colour.

Cozza, yeah BMW Melbourne.

Kris, Sedona looks better in real life than in pics. I have seen 2 now, 1 135i vert in Malaysia and then this coupe.

I just think about resale with color, most BMW owners are picky and tend to pick very standard, easily resaleable colors like black, silver, white

Might swing past to see the Sedona. It's been sitting the back of my mind as a colour I need to see in the flesh and AFAIK it STILL hasn't been built.

Kinda reminds me of the burn orange colour they had for the 3 series compact years ago. Try selling that now!

Almost all my cars have been some form of red, so this one wont be

Can't wait. I'll be at Trivett Parra tonight to have a look at these cars... Hopefully everyone will be looking at the verts so I can have the 135 coupe to myself

The word sedona red is likely a play to the US market with reference to the sedona red rocks of Arizona. The brochure pictures of the sedona red look like they were shot in some Arizona desert type place don't they? The pandering is enough to make one sick or at least enough to put me off it!

Oi - As I'm getting a Sedona Red 135i let me just say I chose the colour for what I like, not what the next owner of my car would like.

Nah seriously wrt reselling - you're going to get peanuts on a trade from the stealers whatever colour you have.

Thanks mate.... Like you, I've owned enough cars to get a rough idea of how the system works.

I subscribe to the philosophy that if you believe you've got a good deal you've probably been ripped off!

Have to disagree, I tried trading in my Imola Yellow Audi S3, no go. The price was shocking, tried selling privately and that took alot longer but I still didn't get an overly good price compared to cars with black/silver. The car was 100% mint with low kms and full service history. The dealer said if it was silver, dolphin grey or black I'd have more chance.

Its a fact, outlandish colored cars do not have the same appeal such as the standard colors do for trading/selling. There ARE alot of people who DO like those outlandish colors (me included as I like red/yellow) but there are ALOT more who don't I've found. This generally only really works for the luxury cars in the upper segment as people tend to be alot fussier and appear to be in the more mature age bracket..

Silver and Mercedes is a classic example. Check out the prices for the purple mercedes...

That said, If I was wealthy enough to not give two hoots about resale, I'd chose a different color but I do also think about resale now for my cars having owned a yellow car in the past.

Well that is very true, on the trade in, they never give you a good value and if they have something to hang on so to justify giving you an even lower one (ei. colour) they would

I wouldn't call Sedona Red an outlandish colour for a car. I don't see Ferrari drivers complaining about red or even yellow.

You can bet your last dollar on the fact that whatever colour your car is you will get as little as possible on a trade. No dealer is going to give you more simply because you have the "right" colour car.

I can't afford not to care about the resale value of my car but as this if my first ever brand new car, I chose the colour for one person alone. Me. I'm having lots of trouble trying to dispose of my immaculate mystic blue E46 320 Coupe cause apparently blue also isn't popular but I didn't hesitate one iota in choosing Le Mans Blue for my new 135i. MY car, MY colour. I like blue. End of story.

Call me selfish but hey.....

Well in the end it is your car and you are the one that is going to pay for it and life with it, so might as well get something that is exactly what you want to every time you look at it, it reminds you of how much you do not care paying all that money for that, lol!!!!
