HD-radio question

How do can you tell if you are on an HD channel or not? At one time I thought the HD stations were at different frequencies. I know my car has it, but all I can find is a function to turn HD on or off. Is there any indication of whether or not the station you are listening to is in HD? :iono:

Yes, the station frequency gets replaced with the station call sign + HD Logo when the head unit locks onto the HD signal.

I'd guess they probably just don't have HD radio in OK yet.

yeah when I ordered mine my SA handed me a list of stations in the area that offer HD...so not ALL stations are. Like the above post said...if you have it turned on, it should automatically pick up those stations that DO offer it. My 1er is still awaiting transport, so hopefully I will find out soon myself

There look to be plenty of HD Radio stations in the OKC area.

If a station is HD, the station will start in standard and then change to HD automatically. You will see HD and the word list if they have other HD channels as well you can switch too.

Thanks guys. The station I was listening to was supposed to be HD, but I guess it isn't for some reason right now. I flipped to an AM station and saw the HD symbol and it's working.

Yeah, if you also see the list option show up will the HD symbol is up, hit it. That is how you find other hidden HD Stations. Like our local rock station has a hidden HD2 station that plays nothing but live music with no commercials...pretty cool.

Yes, you can tune to HD sub-channels, but the only way I've found to do that is to be in Manual tuning mode, and hit the Channel up/down arrow after the display has changed into that station's information screen. Plus, you can't store an HD subchannel to either the radio's Presets or to a soft key. A PITA.

Thanks for the heads up on the sub-channels. I will try that out today and see if I can find it. I did the Autostore HD but not all of them are listed as HD even though they are "advertised" as being HD channels.

I also noticed looking at the owners manual that I don't have an "all stations" tab. It just says manual, presets, and autostore. The owners manual says there should be an all stations tab that I don't have. :iono:

Very distinct and noticeable improvement for AM HD stations. High frequency response is extended, making AM stations sound close to FM stations.

Slight improvement for FM stations. Whether or not you can hear the improvement depends on music content/type, plus ambient conditions (road noise, wind noise, etc.)

Neither approaches CD quality, which is what HDRadio claims for FM HD stations.

when a station first comes on, it is not in HD and then it converts itself. You can hear a huge difference in my opinion.
