Why Gen 1 B46 in a G01
Does anyone know why the 22+ G01 x3 does not get the gen 2 b46 with the higher HP and torque? like the 330 and 230?
You would think more torque would benefit an SUV |

... to shed some lights, might help hypothetically
... courtesy of meta ai Good point! The Gen 2 B46 engine (also known as the B46TU1) is an updated version of the B46 engine, and it's a more plausible option for the X3 (G01 LCI). The Gen 2 B46 engine offers: - Increased power output: 245 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque (similar to the B48 engine) - Improved emissions and efficiency - Enhanced performance and responsiveness However, there are still a few reasons why BMW might have chosen the B48 engine over the Gen 2 B46 engine for the X3 (G01 LCI): 1. Packaging and design: The B48 engine has a slightly different design and packaging, which might be more suitable for the X3's engine compartment and chassis. 2. Production and logistics: BMW might have already invested in production lines and tooling for the B48 engine, making it more cost-effective to continue using it. 3. Brand image and marketing: The B48 engine is positioned as a more premium and performance-oriented option, aligning with the X3's brand image and marketing strategy. Keep in mind that these are just hypotheses, and the actual reasons for BMW's decision might be more complex and nuanced. |
