NICE vid's of PROceed vs. E55 vs. E63 vs. JB2
This just shows what this engine is capable of. I'm really surprised they were able to walk a E63 like that.

A rolling start is a good indicator of which car makes better power whereas a dig sorts the good drivers from the bad. Both would be nice. Nate

The new C63 is in the same range with the M3 and faster than it in a straight line. The E63 is more expensive but right about the same quarter mile time if IIRC. So if it can beat the E63 than I don't see why it couldn't beat the M3 and give a C65 a run for its money. I couldn't load the video so if I'm way off in left field.

Yes I had to specify in a straight line. heh.
Mercedes have never had the agility of BMW but they sure do make some powerful cars. The E63 is a beast of a car to drive, if only they offered it in manual too =/ |

Mods are here already. DMS Automotive has a ECU reflash that will bring it up to 491hp. I am really tempted to do this. After driving Mercedes Australia's C63 two nights ago, I think I could do with more power when mine comes.

Not according to a German mag (sports auto I think) who tested the M3 sedan against a C63 optioned with 030 Performance Pack (LSD, better brakes, stiffer suspension). Unfortunately majority of magazines have tested the C63 without this option which is why it always gets crushed by the M3.

You guys do realize the E63 has 500+ HP right? It's faster than a C63. There's no way I'd buy a car with a detuned engine.
And slickone, the rolling start is a better indication of speed because there's less of an issue with how good the launch is. AND it saves the tranny a LOT of wear and tear. |

It is so funny to me. BMW back in the day were never about high hp. It was about the total package. Matter of fact, BMWs were never class leading in hp numbers, they just didn't care. Now its, "my modded 335i beats this car and that car", its rather amusing. Then it goes into limp mode or their warranty gets cancelled or their turbos bust. Quote:
Multiple test have proven the 0-60 times are better than the E63. Car and Driver C63 - 3.9 sec. E63 - 4.2 sec. When the tuners unleash the extra hp's it will be even more of a monster. And there is one HUGE reason to buy it over the E63(other than it being faster). The 2009 models get a LSD with the 030-Perf. Package. |

E63 is a heavy car! On a straightline they are about line ball - C63 a bit faster if anything. But around the corners C63 is the only half decent AMG (err, Black Series aside).

I didn't realize you can get the LSD.
But the detuned engine is just wrong. It doesn't cost MB any extra money to give it the same power as the E63. It's the same thing with BMW and the year they had the 330 and 325. Just wrong, but at least they fixed that after a year. |
