OK- still confused!!!

I have read though all the threads but I am still a little confused on this whole ipod thing.

I have a iphone and plan on ordering the $400 ipod/usb.
  1. Do I need to buy a special cable or use the one I use to hook it to my pc?
  2. Does the standard stereo system display song names?

1. no, you will get an additional cable to hook up to your BMW. You can use your apple usb cable, but then you will not be able to play songs you purchased of itunes because the BMW will be reading your iPo as a hard drive.

2. The professional radio is able to display song names/artist/playlist information just as well as i-drive can. You just have less space to read information in and the interface is a little different. I am choosing to go idrive not because it has more options, but i want to be able to see more on the screen. Plus, I love gadgets!

So both the Standard and Premium displays song names?

I would have love to get the idrive as well, but I want to keep my cost down.

yeah, I think I read elsewhere that the premium has 2 lines of text and the standard has one... either way they both display song names.

1. No, the iPod option comes with a special stereo cable
2. Yes, the standard stereo shows the following

a. Playlist - songs
b. Artist - songs
c. Album - songs
d. All - songs

You can scroll around with either steering wheel controls or radio controls

Your iPhone will also show your contact list and can be scrolled through the stereo as well.

You do not need iDrive to have these features.
