dui
Went out last night to grab a couple of drinks with a buddy who is leaving work...ended up leaving early because i had some shit to do and didnt want to get too buzzed, and while turning out of the parking lot went passed a cop at the light accross the street. I continued to pull into a 7/11 which was a block down and grab a gatorade, and when I came out of the store the cop was running my plates. Went through a few tests which I passed, and then failed a breathalizer. After that it was the whole 9 yards, cuffs, hospital for blood tests, processed at the station...terrible...

Advice? My best advice would be to not ask us. Get an attorney that specializes in this. DUI's are nothing to play around with, and can effect your wallet for many years to come, and you may be required to report them to your place of work (if not now, possibly in the future).
Also, don't post too many incriminating details of the events online, in case they can be tied back to you. |

that sucks man.
it's hard to do but never ever do the field sobriety test or the breathalyzer test. the rule is always delay and go for the blood test. the field tests are either subjective or not very reliable. anyway that is moot now. get a good dui attorney. i sat on a jury for a dui and the defense attorney was amazing. it is pretty easy to poke holes in a dui case. for example, in the one i sat in, they couldn't introduce the BAC because they couldn't get someone to testify that the machine had been properly calibrated as required. sorry man.

Get a lawyer.

I understand, i appreciate your straight fowardness, but advice is what i asked for not legal counsel...perhaps someone on the board has been in the same situation. I think the day after before ive even gotten my car out of the impound is a little quick to start contacting lawyers...just lookin for a little feedback, and i know its a serious matter. The officer mentioned that i didnt appear physically intoxicated and that she would reduce it to an ARD or something along those lines...never heard of that before but figured I'd run it by the board...I guess I apologize?

Personally, I don't think you realize how serious this is. You asked for advice. Our collective advice is to get qualified professional help, and not post things that will incriminate you, like the actual amount of alcohol you drank.
Read this. It pertains to using ARD for DUIs in PA. Do not even think of apologizing for anything, as it might be used as an admission of guilt. Do what your qualified attorney tell you to. |

IMO, edit your post so as not to incriminate yourself, and get a lawyer, for starters.
When is your court date? If it's after europe, you can still drive there. If it's scheduled for before then, you can't. If it's scheduled for while you're there, trip canceled. Seriously though, lawyer up fast. Remove your first post, or at least the incriminating parts of it. You could go to jail. Your car insurance will probably be revoked for serveral years if you're convicted. Picking up the car should be the least of your worries. If you're convicted, you won't be able to drive it for a long time.

I would get an attorney ASAP. This is going to cost you a lot of money, and time. Say by by to your insurance rates also.
However, with that said, your an adult and chose to Drink and Drive, now you have to pay the consequenses, just count your blessings you did not hit or kill another person/car or your problems would be much much worse. |

Agree with all of the advice. Honestly, even if you lawyer up, forget the 135. Your ins. rates are going to be through the roof on a new sports car. Get all this straightened out first and forget about the trip.

^^ what they said...what do you think we're gonna say??
Oh don't worry...you'll just get a slap on the wrist and everything is going to be alright There is a reason why the law is driving while/under the influence instead of driving drunk "Impairment begins with the first drink" - sorry to sound like a PSA but its the truth I hope everything works out well for you and wish you the best of luck in court |

This is why I don't even take a sip while I am driving. Its hard to tell when to much is too much, even if you think you are cool to drive :iono:. Sorry to hear it man, I agree with the rest and talk to a lawyer ASAP .

Drinking and driving are separate activities. If I plan on driving my car I don't drink, at all. Current drunk-driving penalties are plain insufficient, if you get caught driving drunk, you should be stripped of your license. Forever. "BMW -driver arrested for drunk driving, takes out a family of five", there's a swell headline. Does BMW make a bicycle?
