Window problem.

I think I have discovered my first problem with the car. My passenger side window doesn't roll down completely, like my driver side does. While rolled down the driver side window tugs under and becomes flush with the door, but the passenger side window still peaks above the door. Can someone check this on his car, I don't want to take it in unless it's necessary, but it's bugging that it's not symmetric. Also, because it's a little high, I am afraid the window will eventually over stretch the top weather strip.

UDPATE:
My window is fixed. The SA was first hesitant to perform the service, stating observation from this forum can't be used as official guideline. He claimed or believed the car is built this way with one window sitting higher than the other. The paradox is quickly resolved with a trip to the showroom since both windows from the demo car lower below the door. They realigned the window and now it works correctly. (Will@longbeachBMW - If you are reading this. Let the SA know that I wouldn't come in for warranty work unless necessary. Despite how great you folks are over there, I am too swamped to spend personal time at the dealership. Kind of like my doctor, I love her but I don't want to see her.)

Finally, thanks to Long Beach BMW for fixing bug caused by corp. BMW

Call me crazy but I though I read that there is a fix for this which involves some combination of holding the window switch after the window is completely up for a 5 second count or similar. Truely I don't remember where or the specifics but I remember a mention of this fix.

Maybe someone with some prior BMW experience can come to the rescue.

Can someone roll down their passenger side window for me and check if the glass actually go below the door panel?

I checked this out yesterday on my car and it definitely goes below the level of the weather seal.

Give this a try

"You need to reset the anti pinch function for the one touch to work.

Key on
fully lower window
Press and hold the window up button. Continue to hold the button for 5 sec after the window is fully closed.
Repeat for other windows"

Anti-trap only applies to one-touch up and down. The windows on BMW coupes are adjustable, so it may need to be adjusted. It requires special tools, so it's not a DIY. Take it to the dealership, since warranty will cover this problem.

It seems to be a hit or miss thing...I have had the windows where they sit about 1/8" above the seal then after playing with them a bit they drop below the seal. When I have got it so drop below the seal I held the switches in the down position of a couple of seconds then releases and pressed again.."thud" and they dropped all the way down. Keep us posted Robert because it seems to be a hit or miss phenomenon!

Thermal expansion(not knowing what materials window assemblies are made of)?... maybe the cars were assembled at a different temperature in Munich? Good to know it has room for adjustment.

Although strange it is only happening on one side.

My Report:

Drivers Window - does all the way down
Passenger Window - Does Not go all the way down - about 1/4in of the window is still showing AND when raised it has a terrible wind leak.

Both of my windows go down the same...flush.

If I remember correctly, on some BMW's (I know 100% they exist on the Z3/Z4) there is an access hole at the bottom of the door that allows for vertical adjustments to the windows.

Took my car to the dealer today to get the wind noise on passenger side looked at. They called a few hours later and said everything is in spec and nothing looks out of alignment. They pretty much gave me the "they all do that" excuse which really frustrates me because on some days you would swear the window was down a tic or two. Guess I'll wait a while and try another dealer.

UR2SLOW1 - I have the same issue! I get A LOT of whistling and wind noise on the passenger side only. Even if I'm going like 50 or 60. I keep checking to make sure the door is closed and the sunroof is down. I don't know where on earth it's coming from other than the passenger side. Driver's side doesn't make the noise. So weird. I imagine if I took it in they'd say the same thing and do nothing about it. Wonder how many people have that issue or if it's just a design flaw. I'm not sure how a symetrical car could only have the noise on the RIGHT side, but still.

As I mentioned in another post, I was told by Charlene at BMW NA that this issue has been addressed by a software update. Before you get too excited, check my thread on taking your car to the dealers. Misery ensues.

OK, the scenario; passenger-side window will not completely lower, until, one day it actually went all the way down..."Huh? That's different." Same day, new wind-noise from passenger-side, does the window need to be adjusted? No. Allow the window rubbers a day or two to 'remember' the new set, the new seal, all will be rectified. As it turns out, the car repairs itself. The Dorian Grey of automobiles? Uh, probably not.
