"Arriving at BMW retailers on March 22 with an MSRP of $33,900, the BMW 128i Coupé represents a new entry point to the BMW" ...really, when you consider that the 323 starts at 35,600, it's not really that great of an "entry point" at 33,900... But oh well, as of today I'm finalizing plans to go pick up a new GTI in Red Deer on Saturday morning:thumbup:, drove one on Saturday, and despite the fwd, loved it...and the price kicks the snot of the 128i I wanted |

I'm proud of you for doing what you think is best for you. If there were cars out there that were RWD or non-ugly AWD, I would high consider those myself. |

100% agree...a big part of why i want(ed) a 1-series was for the rwd too, but there's always compromises to be made.

I know we're getting screwed on pricing, but I don't think it's as bad as you're showing. From what I understand, CAN 135i coupe pricing is $41,700, while the price you're showing is the CAN 135i vert.
So really a $7k difference or 20% markup. Still shitty, but better than 26%. |

whoops my mistake on the price....
Still the markup is pretty absurd. The statement from BMW regarding it is also very weak. They claim the DRL's and the block heater are justification, they also mention the Canadian "warranty" as a reason... which makes no sense because as far as I know the US has a warranty too :iono:. Hmmm, I think the US version has DRL's too now.... must be those 10,000$ block heaters :bs: |

They think most Canadian purchasers are stupid. They tell us that we have seat heaters as standard vs. the US but don't mention that we don't get a sunroof as standard. BMW, cut the horse crap and adjust pricing to reflect REALITY.

Yeah it is too bad, I am looking for a summer car maybe for either this year or next year. The 135i is one of my top choices, the concept kind of reminds me of my old 320i back when I was younger.
I would have liked to buy new, but money isn't the issue here... I just can't bring myself to get ripped off that badly. Most likely I will just end up importing something from the States that hasn't been black listed by regulations yet. |

Well guys, there's several ways to look at the Cdn pricing.
1. Compare it to U.S. pricing in converted Cdn dollars and we're at a 15 - 20% price disadvantage . 2. Compare it to what other folks in other countries are paying and we're at a significant price advantage. The way I look at it is that the 230hp 128i Cabrio I'm getting is priced approx $10K less than my comparably equipped 2003 185hp 2.5i Z4 I bought over 5 years ago - and that ain't bad. |

Ahhhhh, the old the glass is half empty but it is also half full bit
That is true, BMW certainly is not the worst offender of Canadian price fixing. With that said I would sure feel a lot better if they just sold it for a fair price to everybody. |

Yeah I was really hoping they would address the pricing issue as it is a new model for both Canada and the US. |

The situation is, just ONE state, say the State of California, its sales volume of new cars, is already more than the whole Canada, with all of our provinces combined. In that aspect, our dealers here don't have much bargaining power. Look at it this way, our prices here compared to most Asian countries/regions are still very attractive.

And really the same could be said for practially ever brand of vehicle sold in Canada, so why is Audi can drop it's MSRP's or Lexus, or Porsche, or whatever??... The fact is the base MSRP, although a tad high, isn't that bad, it's the raping you get on Freight & PDI, Admin Fees, etc... I mean seriously, both a US car and a Canadian car are painted in germany...in the US metallic paint costs $500...here it's $800, that's 60% more...Freight and pdi goes from $800 to $2000... and so on. Then there's $400 for what?...taking the 15 minutes to write a bill of sale??...my Dentist doesn't even charge that much... |
