CDV & Short Shift Kit

Since the 135i uses the same motor and tranny as the 335i would it make sense to assume that the CDV valve and short shift kit for the 335i would fit the 135i? Thoughts?

not sure about the short shift kit. but I guarantee CDV will be the same. CDV is a very basic part and I doubt BMW will be using different threads in the 135i.

The B&M short shifter for the E90 fits the E87 130i if that is any help.

Can the CDV be bypassed without compromising the warranty?

The trick is to install a modified CDV valve. Don't remove the CDV valve.

Can the service center detect the modified valve?

Only if they take the modified valve and cut it in half. Highly unlikely I would say.

As I understand it, running a modified valve will provide quicker clutch response. Is it a relatively easy change-out. A stock part could be installed for any visit to the dealer.

This CDV valve business is news to me. A quick Google shows that Zeckhausen Racing's solution seems to be popular.

As has been said already, the E90 part is certain to be the same and if you buy two of these at your local dealer and send them to Zeckhausen, they keep one for stock and send the other back with the internals removed. As it will look identical to the OEM part I for one would never be concerned about what the dealer might think.

Seems a no-brainer - does anyone have personal experience of this modification?

That's true. I would also recommend re-installing the CDV should to be bringing your car in for any drivetrain warranty issues too. No use giving them a reason to deny coverage.

Dave has been making those modded CDVs for quite some time.

Anyway, here's an entire thread of people giving their impressions of either a modified or removed CDV. It's universally accepted as a low cost, well worthwhile mod.

This is a no-brainer for anyone who has been driving a stick shift car for years. When i first drove a 3 series with the CDV installed I simply could nto shift smoothyl. After installing the modified CDV it was like night and day. I had gotten my skills back. Definitely a no-brainer for the price.

Where is the CDV located? Is it difficult to access?

Indeed. Thanks to the others for the information and feedback.

I need to do some research locally as Zeckhausen do not list a part in stock for right hand drive 330i/335i.

EDIT: Looking on RealOEM it seems my car should have the same part number Lock Valve 21 52 6 764 872 - retail $7.37
