Ambient LED upgrade.
I saw it before but now I can’t find it.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the German company that sells the direct replacement brighter leds for the trim surround on an f36. Ideally to the correct ones I need for the original BMW surround. |

You're looking for Benzinfabrik. I swapped my ambient lighting modules with their products they're great. I'll try and find the thread with everyone showing their installs. I posted all the product links you need in it if you were to swap all the modules.
You will need 2 of these below. https://www.benzinfabrik.com/de/bran...B803852&c=7432 Check out the thread below for more info and pictures. There's a post from me with the links to the door card (would need 4 modules) and footwell modules (would need 2 modules) if you wish to swap all of your ambient lighting. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1769120 Last edited by eff32fl; 11-16-2023 at 12:38 AM.. |

That’s the thread I was looking for thanks. Just ordered the climate surround leds and footwell LEDs. I’m going to do the door LEDs maybe next year as I need to replace my inner window rubber so will probably kill 2 birds with one stone while the door panel is off. Just been to BMW to pick up my Lci surround and cup holder led so will install it all once the LEDs arrive. |

Never even crossed my mind to just change the resistors. |

The resistor on the yellow LED in that picture is 3.92 kΩ, which is the reason why they're so dark. I have plenty of old style 1/4w resistors on hand, so I paralleled a 1k with the stock resistor for a net value of 800 ohms. The brightness was subjectively doubled. I had to finagle the housing to get it to fit, but I don't have any SMD resistors on hand and didn't want to buy a hundred when I only needed four.

I have the blue/white modules (radio surround, all 4 door cards and both footwells) and the blue looks great at night. Yeah that's a good idea to do the rest with the door cards off. If you decide to replace the cup holder LED also, it uses the door card style module not the radio surround style module just FYI. |

Below is a comprehensive list of the modules needed for each part of the car. For the door ambient lighting strips (need 4 of these): https://www.benzinfabrik.com/de/led-...htung-fuer-bmw For the footwell (need 2 of these): https://www.benzinfabrik.com/de/led-...htung-fuer-bmw For the LCI radio panel (need 2 of these): https://www.benzinfabrik.com/de/bran...lende-fuer-bmw For the pre-LCI cup holder LED (or if you're retrofitting it) it uses the same module as the doors (need 1 of these): https://www.benzinfabrik.com/de/led-...htung-fuer-bmw |
