Is the 128i the only RWD, coupe import under $30K?

Is the 128i the only RWD, 6-cylinder, coupe import under $30K? If not, what are the others?

Hahaha. When you narrow the qualifications that tightly, then yes.

But the VW R32 (AWD) will give a moderately-optioned 128i a serious run for its money.

And the Mustang GT still gives you 300hp for around $25k.

Also, the G35 Sedan has 305hp and starts at $31,600, so it is also in the same universe as the 128i.

Just depends on the package you're looking for. There's lots of nice metal available for around $30k.

uhhh...

the Nissan 350z's MSRP is at $27,900. that's for 305hp with no back seat.
the Mazda RXB's MSRP is at $26,435. not 6 cylinders... but oh well.

... both the Infiniti G35 and G37 coupes are within range, you get what you pay for, especially in terms of interior comfort.

Unless I'm mistaken the two G's come standard with some very nice looking leather sports seats, that you need to cough up another $2500 for on the 1 series!

Neither will a 128i. For one with decent equipment you're looking at 36,000

He framed his question so narrowly that there was only one answer. Plenty of cars realistically compete with the 128i. You raise a good point about the S2000.

An s2k is $35,000. Its a 4cylinder with 240hp. Its more inline with the 135i. But there is no options whatsoever with the s2000.

I can't think of any other sub $30k RWD cars with a back seat and decent MPG (thus excluding the RX-8.)

Actually, I bought mine for $26k in 04 with 3k on it. It was from a very wealthy man that had it until his porsche conv. was delivered. I'm planning on selling it for 20k. Thats a $6,000 difference in 4yrs.

If it looks the part you wont have any trouble getting 20 for it. Those cars have very high residual values.

RWD is the only uncommon factor here. The Genesis Coupe is the only other forthcomming model that comes to mind, which of course is why I automatically like that car too.

Presently you have the 350Z, which should be redesigned for 2009 as well.

It's pretty slim pickings on paper.
