QUESTiON for X5 Performance Center Delivery participants
curious to know for those who picked up their X5 G05 at the PCD if this particular off-road experience was cancelled due to inclement weather while you were there

You don't use your own car, they let you drive one of their demo.

The hubby did that portion of the course, whilst I road passenger. To me that part was nerve-wracking, as I felt like it was going to flip over. The instructor gave the option for me to switch out to try it myself, but I passed. Can't comment on the weather aspect as it was a clear sunny July day.
I will add that I looked at the tires when we first got to the vehicle we'd be using, and they weren't anything special. Just some A/S (forgot the brand) that were clearly near the end of their life (worn and some cracking), and it still handled amazingly. |

The off road coarse was fun, but the track part was even better. Those fleet x5s are driven super hard every day. I'd hate to pick one up on the used car market!

NYC.
Not Your Car! Drive the beyotch like you stole it. On the performance course, and off road, it’s a blast. Even in the winter with some ice or snow, I turn off traction control and do donuts at HomeDepot… But at the performance center - it’s not your car. Will be the same model you are picking up (40/60/M5), but fortunately not the one you will drive home later that day. |

My pickup was also sunny in the summer, so can't say what would happen during inclement weather. My guess is that it would not really matter. When I did mine, everyone did an abbreviated off-road bit, then the group was split into those with sedans and X-series, so the sedans did the road course, and the X-series did more on the off-road course. I think the X-series later got a brief run on the road course, but not as much as the sedans. It's all over in the morning, then lunch, and then you get introduced to your vehicle. In my case, I'd already done that in Munich, so I just started the drive home after I did a quick walk-around to verify it made it across the pond in good shape...they did change the maps to the US version from Europe's, which was expected. While the X-series is mostly made in the USA, BMW has stopped the US European delivery options. With an X, that was never possible, nor was it on my i3, as the charging socket is different, and, I think, they didn't feel it was worth the effort to swap it for later, nor was the range useful for touring the countryside (recharging wasn't as available as it is today).
