Filmed last weekend in Sweden:

and the article, auf Deutsch

With Babel Fish Translation:

Maybe Thorsten can improve this translation?

First exit: BMW 135i Holla, the Waldfee

there BMW placed however something on the wheels, which lets the lovers of fast sporty driving machines the water gather in the mouth. BMW 1er series of Coupé is called bitebite bites, exact 135i.

That is cooked a Menü, with courage and ability. A creation, which unites many elements of sporty driving elegantly and united to an overall view, which is probably unique in the compact class.

The 1er eliminated the doubts, whether rear propulsion in the compact Premium segment intersperses itself, impressively. The tradition of the sporty Coupés, which leads with BMW in the post-war period of 700 CS beginning across larger and smaller models away, finds its continuation now with the 135i.

The 1er Coupé is now the largest one the 1er row, opposite the 1er 3 and 5-Touring it around 12 cm added. That makes not only when looking „a slim foot“, but also to the interior very well did. Particularly in the back bank the larger wheel base becomes positively apparent. Here one can sit now comfortably and enter also halfway comfortably. On the front seats one feels transplanted from the place in three of the earlier years.

Otherwise the cockpit stop larva „is with BMW“, it gives a little too meckern. Why however by the BMW'S designers so little attention one dedicates to the air outlets remains hidden in the depths of the thinking machines.
Individually the interior can be arranged, it is to the 200 possibilities of the variation required.

Core range

The principal item however is the six cylinder Bi-turbo with 306 HP and 400 Nm torque. The machine has baerige strength and pulls up from the number of revolutions cellar like a turbine (BMW has times turbines built). No more turbo- Bums, but flexible strength and without end (these turbochargers need by the way no more running after letting after fast Hatz). One transfers the entire power by means of a six-course transmission to the automatically closing rear axle differential and then to the wheels, which are besot with the 135i in the back with 245/35 R18 on 8,5Jx18 LM, in front one 215/40er tire on a 7,5Jx18 LM selected. Accordingly also the values: 0-100 Km/h 5.3 seconds, for 250 Km/h point electronically limits.

Is peppered the whole with a road-hugging property, which owing to the optimal weight distribution of 50:50 and top the co-ordinated chassis, when braveries is to be designated.

Something for the drift artists

The 1er remains for a long time neutral, begins then over the front wheels to only push, in order to then slide with appropriate gas foot into overriding which can be controlled well. The driving stability program is in such a way laid out that also to the ungeuebteren drivers an easy drift–experience is ordered and this is then again gently caught. If one switches the DSC off, can be wagged the 135i merrily drifting around the corners. It remains however quite good-natured to feel nothing of the bitingness of a Z4 Coupés.

Six-piston a brake calipers brake states enough in front over the efficiency of the BMW when braking.

As fine Soes one equipped the 135i naturally consistently with the BMW Efficient Dynamics system. This system operates the Nebenaggregate, uncoupled from the engine, electrically and then even if they, so e.g. the cooling circuit or the electrical power steering are needed. For the loading the generator provides when braking, thus the brake energy uses for the production of the electrical strength.

Also the luggage accommodation is well solved, 370 litres, which are expandable by 60:40 hinged rear seat on up to 805 the liters.

Naturally the Coupé is available not only in its Top version, but one has also two Diesel versions in the offer, the 120d with 177 HP and the sensational 123d engine with 204 HP and extremely favorable values consumed. With no version one might feel underpowered.

The CO² Output we here under those, why also always, magic 140 mg/km CO² pressed. Even the 135i remains moderate with its 9.2 liters with its drinking customs. The fun the new Coupé to drive costs for the 120i starting from 28.750 euro, for the Diesel garnet 123d requires BMW at least 32,500 euro and the Top model tears a hole of at least 38,950 euro into the cash.

Result

BMW succeeded here a really substantial part, sporty elegantly, which also holds, which promises it optically.

The engine sounds sportier than in the 335i I drove. Can't really tell much about the handling from that video.

+3 crappy driving, but the rear steps out, and he doesn't seem to understeer much. I wonder how that eLSD works with a better driver.

What a bunch of curmudgeons. No matter what someone posts around here lately, someone has something to bitch about. Maybe it's 1er withdrawal, I dunno.

Who really gives a rat's ass how the driving is? What can you honestly tell about the driving dynamics from a youtube video from a camcorder in the passenger's hands? If that was the driver's first lap in the car, and it just started raining, and it's the coveted property of BMW, I can certainly understand exercising abundant caution and less-than-balls-to-the-wall driving.

It's a pleasure to see & hear the 135i. Thanks for the link, OP!

Addendum: No, I wasn't the driver.

It was neither cautious driving, nor aggressive driving. It was just really crappy driving. Tip to driver: smooth throttle modulation does wonders in greasy conditions.

BTW, it was just one comment. Take a chill pill.

Well this is a serious problem, in my mind, with regards to reviews. I mean how many of them actually know how to drive? That is really why I trust guys like Tiff Needell, guys I know can drive really, really well. Bottom line: if this guy (in the video) said that the handling was garbage, most would believe him until they see the video. The video loses all of his credibility in my mind.

As far as I'm concerned, given the driver's skill (or more aptly, the lack thereof), I can say that he has no credibility with respect to the article either.

Looked like the driver was having phun in the rain to me... though he did seem uncertain of the track conditions.
