Ordering an LSD
Hi all -
Sorry if this has already been hashed out - I did try and check through the threads and wasn't able to find anything. My car's a 2020 M240i 6MT. I am looking to order an M-Perf LSD from BMW and having it shipped to my indy guy for the install. When I go to the BMW site and start putting the order together, it specifies an auto transmission without any option for the MT. I know a bunch of you have the LSD on your MT cars, so I don't doubt that it can be done (and am not sure why it would matter, anyway). Just wondering if anyone knows why BMW, in their infinite wisdom, would make it appear that it's limited to the automatics. |

I have found that the BMW parts inventory and ordering to be inconsistent. When I was shopping for my auto LSD there was a time where it wasn't listed in inventory. Then a few days later it was.
You could try BMW Parts Hub to buy the LSD. That is where I bought mine and it was a few hundred bucks cheaper ($2280 shipped) than through the BMW parts catalog via my local dealer. If you insist on buying through BMW directly I recommend calling your dealer and speaking with their parts person to try and locate an MT LSD. I believe this is the unit for your car (auto trans part number ends in 89): https://www.bmwpartshub.com/oem-part...MtMGwtbDYtZ2Fz I recommend calling them to confirm as the product description does not explicitly state manual transmission.
