Question for Canadian posters (re: 328xi)

My local BMW dealer is telling me that the 328xi will be available in Canada sometime after January 2007. Is this what other Canadian posters are hearing as well? I thought it was the 335xi which wouldn't be available until 2007.

My understanding (from the original SOP information from BMW North America) was that the 328xi would start production in Sept and be ready for Oct. Do these dates only apply to the US market?

Thanks.

My understanding is that the non "x" models are coming out first so it makes sense that the "x" models will follow - January 07 seems reasonable for Canada.

That delay would certainly hurt sales, particularly if there are no 325/330xi available. Do not see why BMW Canada would do such a thing.

Why wouldn't the 325xi/330xi not be available? They should still be available as a '06 model...?

Any word on the 328iT? I don't want an AWD wagon anymore. Uses extra fuel and I already buy winter tires/wheels.

BMW Canada, hear me and let me buy a 328iT with a proper sport suspension and 18" wheels. Don't get me wrong, I would love a 335iT, but I don't really need the extra power.

Actually, it might be here just in time. My motorcycle will be paid off in 1 year or so, so it might work out well.

I don't want a first model year car anyway. Too many issues with that, so 2007 or 2008 for me please.

I've had a 328xi coupe on order since early August and have a production number that indicated build in Sept, delivery in October. According to the CA I spoke to, the 328xi sedan will not be released until next year. There are no 328xi coupes in showrooms yet - will likely have to wait till early October.

Yesterday, a dealer was musing that they will not have an x-drive sedan available for an entire model year. Since x-drives are so popular in Canada, it could hurt sedan sales.

I'd be driving a 325iT right now if it came in rwd. IMO with winter tires, a nicely balanced car (which the E90 is), and DSC, there is no need for AWD and the extra few hundred pounds that it provides and the money that comes out of my wallet. I hope you get your wish.

Sounds like you have been misinformed by your CA. I've had a 2007 E90 328xi on order since July. It is being build in early Sept with deliver late Oct or early November.

I've heard more or less the same thing. When I took delivery of my 330xi last month I was told that the 328xi coupes should arrive by October/November, it would be silly to miss the winter driving season (I know MB's new S-Class 4Matic won't be out until Jan/Feb but thats not the point). As for a 328xi sedan I have no idea, didn't care to ask either but I'd be curious to see what BMW ends up doing with it's timing in terms of release.
