Nov R&T price comment
November R&T states 128i convertible will be less than $30k. My thought is that the 128i coupe should be $2-3k less than that. Who knows where the not-so-almighty dollar will fall in relation to the Euro by next spring.

the more i read through pricing articles and comments my opinion is slightly changing
i think... Base 128i... 23,500-24,500 fully loaded 128i... 28,500 base 128i convertible... 27,500-29,500 base 135i... 35,500-36,500 full loaded 135i... 40,000+ possible 135i convertible... over 40 i just think this cause the convertible will be out at the same time or around the same time as the coupes.... and i think the 128i will be the "entry" level BMW that some think the 1-series will be. And the 135i will be the more loaded 1er with all the bells and whistles and a substantial price difference (10 K more). Just like an M3 is a 3-series on steroids so will be the 135 compared to the 128. This would fit the US market better then the European market. |

There is no way a base 128i coupe going to be under $25k and a base 128i convertible under $30k. Look at the 3-series pricing structure. The 328i convertible is $2k more than the 335i coupe. So if anything the 128i convertible is going to be around the same or more than a 135i coupe. Also if a 135i coupe starts at $35k then fully loaded will be $45k+ since I can add $10k worth of options in the 3-series easily.

I think the R&T comment sounds just about right.
Base 128i = $26900 Base 128i Conv = $29900 Base 135i = $31900 I can't quite figure why some refuse to consider the idea that these cars might actually be priced fairly.:iono: BMW has said right from the very beginning that the 1 Series was going to slot in between the MINI & the 3 Series in it's product pricing structure. Those that put the base 128i @ $30k & the 135i @ $36/37k must be using some sort of math that I'm not familiar with. The big question is why some feel that the 135i's turbo, body kit, & big brakes would command a $6/$7k premium over the 128i.:iono: Let's just hope the real pricing comes out before we all go crazy arguing about it! |

my hope is jet black/coral red, auto, leather for 38k.....It's a forgone conclusion that the dealer lots will be full of ridiculously "package loaded" or just the opposite 135s
Can anyone advise me that if I decide to "factory order" to get the exact colors and options I want, what is the typical lead-time from date of order to delivery?" |

i cant believe we go back on forth over this.... who really and truly believes that a fully loaded 135i twin turbo M packaged up car wont be 40,000?!
BMW's are expensive and the US market can handle that. i hope that everyone is right with the 31,900 base price but i really think its unlikely. A car that looks like that, M detailing, 300hp, 18 wheels, 6 piston upgraded brakes, body kit, xenons, etc... will not cost 31-33K. Not a BMW atleast....maybe an evo, sti or some japanese car like a TL-S or something (which is more). im sticking firm: 128i base +/- 24,000 135i base +/- 35,000 |

Come on, people, when it comes to predictions, the credibility of a rag like R&T is essentially zero. You'd be better off using the pages of R&T to line your birdcage than reading it for future BMW prices. A 128i convertible will NOT be starting at $30K. $37K would be more like it. The amount of wishful thinking and self-delusion around here concerning 1er pricing is truly staggering. Get a grip! I'm excited about this car as much as any of you, but I'm certainly not expecting any bargains when this car arrives.

I dont think the 128 convertible will necissarily be under 30k, but i wouldnt use the 3-series as a reference for coupe to convetible pricing, because for one the 3-series comes with a hard top convertible while the 1er is just a soft top. I cannt see there being a big of a price difference in the 1er coupe and convert as there is with the 3-series.
So mabye if the 128 is 27k the convert might be 31k... seems reasonable to me. |

Still, a 128i convertible starting at 37,000 dollars? This is an entry-level, soft-top convertible. Nothing more. It may not be starting at 30,000 dollars but your claim of a $37,000 base price is outrageous.

When you consider that the 328i convertible starts at just under $44K, $37K for the 128i 'vert seems about right.

Thats true but the 328i convertible is a hard top, where as the 128i is just a soft top. That should make a significant difference in the price markup from the standard to the convertible of the 3-series to the 1-series.

I'm aware. That's why I'm predicting $37K. It's about what BMW charged for the old soft-top 325ci (e46) convertible. If the 128i had a folding hardtop, I'd put it around $40K.

On another note, BMW's mini brand dosnt even have a 4k mark up for its soft top convertible. |

whoever thinks that the 128i convertible is going to be $37K please let me know what crack you are smoking so that I can get some too. i can see how the 135i M Sport might reach the 40,000 dollar range when fully loaded (and i'm talking every available option), but $37K for a 128i is outrageous. Someone mentioned that BMWs are expensive and all that, but this is getting out of hand. Only time will tell..
