Sedona Red Picture...Accurate Color?

For those who have seen Sedona Red in person, which picture accurately displays the color.

I have seen many Sedona Red images and they all look different. This is what happens when you can't make up your mind between White and Red

well certain colors look different in pics and when in person. for instance the montego blue for the 335i on the brochure and in pics looks nothing like it in person.

the sedona red has a red-orangish in it. as long as it doesnt look like lipstick red in person

cant say ive seen it in person but some of the older spy pics seemed to me to portray the best sense of size/shape/proportions, these were also pictures of the car in in natural lighting with almost all the camo removed so i think they give the best idea of how the car will look in person

although i think the color will look deeper/richer in real life with a lot of fluctuation between a fiery orange and red based on angle. but these give a good idea of the basic color

Other than Le Mans, Sedona is currently my favorite 1er Coupe color.

Not sure how to properly explain this, but none of the pics I've seen (including the ones I've taken) really capture the "depth" of Sedona Red. I tried to get it in this pic...

... but it still doesn't quite do the job :iono:

Auto show lighting doesn't help either.

Not sure how a discussion can be had about specific colors when everyone is looking at a different monitor. Even sublte monitor setting will change the color and I don't think it can be accurately reproduced on the internet. Anything we've seen is only indicative.

Hi! I thought I must be the only person getting screwed up over Sedona Red until I found this website!

My dilemma is that I have to return to my BMW dealer this week with confirmation of my new Coupe colour! It is launched at the end of November here and they have 1 allocation for the model I have chosen. Unfortunately there is no more info. with the dealers than we can access ourselves.

We only have the choice of 5 colours, three of which are pretty safe , but I am very tempted by Sedona Red .There are no samples of it in the UK other than on the website! Great! The initial video release from Germany showed it as a dreadful, dull, orange-red. Having seen the colour on my computer and your photo above I am wondering whether I should take the risk? You say that your photo is not quite right. Is it on the orange or the red side? I don't want to drive around in a great car with the colour of an unripe tomato!

Cheers, Polly

Sedona Red is one of those colors that have different hues depending on lighting and angle.

Much like how Interlagos Blue can go from a purplish color to a deep blue, Sedona Red goes from an orange/copperish color to a reddish hue. However, the overall tone leans towards orange than towards red.

Surprised the color code for the Sedona Red isn't CTS for "Campbell's Tomato Soup' ; -)

If you know sienared II from real life, you can compare it here:

http://www.winklerronny.de/winklerro...e/1ercoupe.htm

As you can see, siena is more red and a bit darker. sedona is more orange:frown:

orange is nice.. but I guess with the name sedona RED people expected more of a red tone in there.

What I saw in LA was very pink, but I had the same problem as Drillslinger... It just doesnt look the same as the pictures. I thought it was the lighting as well, but then I discussed it with my service rep who got to drive one. He said it looked awful in the sun, and described the same things I said about it. Pinkish tones backing up an orangy-red color... I'm goin with Crimson Red.

Seriously, I think it's fugitive...that is, it'll look different under all conditions:weather, lighting, time of day. And change constantly-like trying to get a straight answer out of a politician.

Nothing else explains the variations.
I love the color when it's a medium red - like in the pic below - it just looks great on the car- but when it's the orange/pink/copper mish-mosh it's just too schizophrenic...and I think it'd drive me nuts.

All I can say is that from under the auto show lights, Sedona Red looked pretty close to the circled area in the picture I attached. While the lights certainly didn't flatter the car very much, most cameras still didn't capture the color accurately. I bet if I played around with some filters, I could get the color to like anything from a dark Burgundy red to a pink. Still, from my experience at the autoshow, that circled area represents about what the whole car looked like (i.e. lots of pink tones).

Part of me still wants to love Sedona Red, but I am on Sedona overload from all the promo pictures.... and I really don't like colors that look totally different from one picture to another.

It reminds me of Habanero Red on the Civic Si.

All cars, fashions, trends become dated, some turn into classics, and maybe Sedona Red will too,
but it just doesn't feel right to me on the 1-er - like a gimmick and especially annoying as the signature debut color.
I wish BMW had pulled back it's cleverness and simply made a great metallic medium red without all the color-shifting bells and whistles.
