I have to say, I am very glad that the 135i has the dual tips on the one side - it just looks "right" on a BMW. (this is coming from a guy who added duals to a early miata.....)

I really don't care for the dual (one on each side) pipes on the 335i. Just doesn;t work for me. And the quad tips should probably stay on the M cars...

YMMV..

I'm with the OP on this one...I like the dual exhaust...well really the quad exhaust. I guess I'm a bit partial because I had an E46 M3.

Not a 'huge' fan of the dual exhaust on the 335, so I'm not sure what I'll do on the 135. I'm not a huge fan of the grey skirt on the 135 either....I'll likely have that painted body color pretty quickly.

The reality however, is that I'm less concerned about how it looks than I am how it flows...so functionality will take priority over form on this topic....

Both my X5 and M Roadster came with quad tips and I prefer that look. To me a single or dual on one side looks cheap but with the rear valence not having a nock-out on the other side it would be a pain to do and have it look proper.

I'm with you.. I like the look of quads, but the cost & hassle just aren't worth the end result..:iono:

The 135i should have dual exhaust pipes like the 335i. What where they thinging...

The M1 should have the quad exhaust.

BMW HQ, how about some consistency!

Looks good on a 130i hatch.

I am willing to do it if it has some performance gain otherwise I need more compelling reasons. It does look good.

I think it looks nice, although it is not 135i, still, it looks much better than stupid two pipes...

Save your money until you can afford to buy a BMW that has quads if you like them, but LEAVE THE 135i ALONE, please.

wow...I'm not going to say that's a dumb statement, but it sure is 'silly'.

I sold an M3 with quad exhaust...STOCK....so I can certainly afford it...additionally, I could afford the E92 M3 as well, but I choose not to.

Everyone's welcome to their opinion, but if you're getting emotional about this topic already...you might want to consider getting passionate about another vehicle...because at the price point this car will come in at, it will be right in the target range for a 'community' that enjoys modding the snot out of their cars. And as the years march on and the 1 starts hitting the used car market, the volumes of modifications will exponentially increase.

Relax.

Yes, I'm known for my 'silliness'. But quad exhausts on this application just adds bling and weight--both negatives, IMO. Of course you are welcome to bling the hell out of your car if you like. I'll just have to... if I ever see it.

Your making assumptions here regarding weight that we'll just have to wait and see what the aftermarket manufacturers produce...and I don't think quad exhaust have ever qualified as 'bling'.

Yep, it's your opinion vs. my opinion, since we're both quessing at this stage. Sounds like we agree to disagree.

I'm in the NO camp...
I love the quads on my M Roady.
My 1er will stay single sided.

Quad tips are the way to go. Or a big single tip on each side like my .:R....

I would assume the main consideration would be performance, over looks. I would have to see performance numbers before going to the expense. I do agree most cars look better with a dual exhaust set up, if the numbers are there to justify the dual set up, why not, I'm not a real fan of quad tips however, give me nice size single outlet on either side. The deciding factor, for me, would be the performance numbers before and after exhaust modification, and making the rear valance look right, I would hope someone would make a dual exhaust valance aftermarket down the road.

I wouldnt really consider it "bling" either way its minimal. Depending on the material of stock and aftermarket setups the weight may be negligible. With the turbos you would benefit performance wise from as much flow as possible, plus it give the car a symmetrical look!
