Future 1 owners, how old are you?

Just wondering what the age demographics would be for this beast, I'm currently 21 and hoping to get one when I'm 24 (after I graduate from college)

Currently 24. I'll probably be 25 by the time I actually get my hands on my 135i (which is good news for insurance purposes).

Those are kinda broad ranges, don't you think?
A 23 year old is in a different world, financially, compared to a 29 year old, yet they're in the same range.

I wouldn't get too excited. My insurance dropped $3 a month when I hit 25. It may be different for you though.

Mine did not drop at all so I reminded my insurance agent that I turned 25. I was told that since I had been receiving the "good student" discount until I was 25 (graduated college at 21) that the net result of loosing that discount and turning 25 was zero.

I'd love to know how all these college age kids plan on cranking out nearly $1k a month for a car + insurance on their salary...

I'm 21, but I'm a Network Engineer for an ISP...but I'm the only person I know under the age of 25 that makes what I do.

You kids must have parents that love you :iono:

$1k a month? Naah.

128's will probably lease for $299/mo, 135's $399. Just guessing based upon 3er leases. Whatever the figure is, it won't be that high, I'm guessing the 128 will be the new BMW value leader.

A buy should be between about $550/mo for a 128 and maybe $620/mo. for a 135. And that's without money down.

If you're paying more than $100 a month in insurance, shop around or move.

I'm not in that young-ish bracket anymore, and I certainly didn't make enough to afford a ~30k car at <25 years of age... But there's a lot of folks who will be able to afford this one.

My parents are cheap bastards, my dad keeps telling me I should get a toyota instead. Nobody in my family has any taste whatsoever and they all view cars as appliances that should be bought used off craigslist. I'm fortunate to have gotten myself straighten out and into a great paying job. I dont consider the car a huge expense considering I've already got a better house (and car) than my dad, and he's not too happy about it either. In fact, (funny story) he tried to "one up" me by getting some crappy used mercedes convertible that looked nice, but its in the shop just about every week. And that is coming from someone who criticizes BMWs as being unreliable. Kinda pathetic when your parents try to compete with you, instead of being proud. Oh well.

Vornado, by god, I'm proud of you! And I'm not joking either. You have apparently accomplished a considerable amount at your youthful age. You already seem to be mature beyond your actual years, so you may want to consider forgiving your parents their faults if you haven't already.
