Power folding exterior mirror option?
I know these are optional on 335i coupes so I'm wondering if they'll be an option on the 135i.
Always loved that option. Even retrofitted a set of euro M3 mirrors onto my 2002 330Ci back in the day.

Folding mirrors give you maybe a couple of inches clearance to get in a very small garage. Other than that, I don't see the purpose. Is that why you want them? I'm just curious, as I cannot imagine intentionally getting that close to imovable objects.

I have them on my M Roady... (came in prem. pkg)
While they are useful at times, I wouldn't pay extra to get them specifically.

NYC streets can get a bit tight. Every inch counts!

I for one hope they're left out of the premium package. However a stand alone option is fine by me.
Do we really need a motor to this? What's wrong with doing it by hand? I'd rather have a few bucks left in my pocket and a few pounds left off the car. |

I agree. Just something else that can go wrong.

Yeah I don't need the folding mirrors.
That being said, it would be nice if the passenger mirror tilted down when you put the vehicle in reverse, for parallel parking, as with my wife's car. |

I remember reading somewhere that for the e90, if you have comfort access and hold the handle for 5 seconds after the car locks, the side view mirrors fold in automatically. I wonder if this works for the 1 as well?

Couldn't help myself. Seriously though...during the BMW Drive for Brest Cancer, and, unknown to me, the 5-Series had the flapping mirrors. Freaked me out when I went to adjust the mirrors and the damn things folded-up. There I was, frantically fumbling with the mirror controls trying to redeploy the flippy things while driving a large and expensive BMW.:eyebulge: Even though it scared the hell outta' me, a very nice car it was.

If you need to fold them, there's nothing wrong with with rolling down the window (there IS a built-in motor for that, THANK GOD!!!!) and folding them in by hand.
The only time I fold mirror is when going through a drive-through bank machine... Damn my short arms....

Its just that Im in NYC and my driveway is super narrow. I may need to fold both mirrors and getting to the passenger side mirror from the driver's position would be a nice lean and stretch over. I thought if the 135i can be had with electric folding mirrors it would be super sweet. Anyone hear of availability of this? |

My brother has been driving 45foot long bus' in SF for 30 years, and he has claimed many mirrors w/his bus' because the car is a tad to far in the road. This feature will help a lot more than one thinks when parking on a busy road, or on the tight city streets.
