Which 1-Series Coupe Model will you purchase?

Which 1-Series Coupe Model will you purchase?

Edit: The convertible was left out as there is not a press release, official photos or a release date.

I'm focussed on the 128i, hopefully with the M Sport package. But if the 135i is within striking distance pricewise, I could be tempted...

Yeah I'll agree, I'm all about a 128i cabrio with M-sport. I hope that can be had with the top of the line brakes (6 piston calipers).

Which 1 Series to purchase?

I've been looking for a coupe to replace my Miata. I've toyed with a couple of things (G 37, Cayman, Corvette, Elise - but She Who Must Be Obeyed will never put up with riding in an Elise) but haven't found the ideal device yet. The 135i may be it - the ~3200 lbs weight is a bit heavy for my tastes but the power is outstanding (and the Vishnu's PROcede is spot on perfect). I'm waiting to get a chance to drive it.

I fell in love the 2002 when I was a kid and have been puzzled why BMW has strayed from that. Bang for the buck on the 135i looks pretty good!!

Good luck to those of you hoping to get the M sport package as apart of the deal stateside. BMW NA product planners aren't bright enough to make this an offering to us Bimmerphiles in the U.S. More likely than not, the M sport package will be apart of the accessories equipment offered for the 1er coupe/convertible. Bummer.

What about this from the NA press release?

M-inspired performance for the 135i Coupe
The 135i Coupe offers more performance and a striking look thanks to M-inspired components. Features include an Aero kit for additional downforce at speed, better brake cooling and enhanced aesthetics while the Sports Suspension offers higher traction and reduced body roll with 18-inch wheels and performance tires. The Sports Suspension also includes with a high-performance brake system incorporating six-piston fixed calipers on the front and two-piston fixed calipers at the rear.
This may or may not be available for the 128i, but sounds like a done deal for the 135i. :iono:

I'm speaking specifically on the NA spec 128i, and entire BMW model line up in general, ZSP wise.

135i. The Blue 1.
I've already been to my dealer and let them know I want the first 1-er in my metro area.

Done deal?...pretty much, yes.
Once hard specs & prices are released I will be assigned an order number
that basically allows me to get placed in line as I design the car...options, etc..
As I understand it the order # gets assigned a VIN# as it goes into production.
When you get the VIN# there's no turning back...no changes can be made to the car. So I'm told by the dealer.
btw...you can always back out and not accept the car once it arrives...for any reason. However, you've pissed a lot of people off!

I've bought my Z4 coming off lease. I'll be holding the title in my hot hands by this time next week.
Long story...but it's a good $ deal and I have ecquity...ie, the pay-off price vs what it goes for on the market today.
Yes, I've done the research and the #'s.

I'll sell the Z4 as we get closer to the 1-er's N/A debut.

Brookside - coming off a convertible to a coupe is about what I intend to do. How did you go about making the decision to forgo the open air experience?

It was hard..absolutley no complaints about the Z4...and it's been bulletproof and a joy from day one. I should have gotten the 3.0 at the time but a the deal being offered back then was too good to pass up. And maybe the lure of the twin-turbo is what sent me to the 1-er. I've been married to the same woman for almost 20 years...never ran around, never screwed around. But I like a new car every 3-4 years.

btw atr, I notice you're close by...it will be a very different experience bargaining this time since Baron BMW was sold to a conglomerate out of Houston...this is their first experience with a premium brand - all the old salesmen are taking advantage of the know-nothing owners by absolutely racking the customers. Awful to watch these a-holes in action.
I've already had "words" with a sales guy and the new sales manager. In this little city there's one dealership- it's them or the highway.

Yes understand - fortunately there are options - I don't have to get the car in KC. I may test drive a couple of cars in KC - but I ain't buying one from Baron ; -).
BTW, you really in Brookside? I'm a member of a gang (Age & Treachery Racing - hence the atr) that meets at Sharp's every Saturday morning at 0800 for breakfast.

Tell the Baron folks that you won't think twice about driving a couple of hours to visit with the folks at Joe Self BMW down here in Wichita.
