Tuned n/a Mk.1 MX5

Thinking about buying a ready made Mk-1MX5 project it's originally a 1.8i but had lots of work to get it up to 155 bhp

Now running on twin Webersnot fuel injection and lots of engine work done also LSD uprated clutch, suspension etc. question is as on the outside it is completely standard and only has cloth seats as well would this only appeal to a limited market when it came to selling?

lol I can't help being a car dealers dream I just love buying them!

Don't really understand why anyone looking for a small sports car would not want it as it's the MX5 Mazda should have made has no chavvy bits, sounds fantastic goes really well but it's be for sale a long time and that concerns me as I don't keep cars.Seems people don't want cars with lots of engine mods some actually prefer dreadful exterior mods, why I'll never know of course you can do it tastefully but many don't when they could have actually spent on improving the car.

Another 944 is still currently in the lead, think I'll leave an 8 Series for a bit save up a bit more. Did also have in mind an E36 M3, I can't afford an E30 or an E46 but the image of the E36 really puts me off it, don't want to be seen as a chav but would really enjoy an M3.

It's appeal would be to someone wanting a low cost car for trackdays.

Leather seats would be preferable to most people and there is a massive choice when it comes to MX5's so this would need to be cheap. I don't think you should be putting any real value to the modifications.

Most dealers would detract from the value due to the mish-mash of after market mods.

Praying for someone like Porscha to turn up

Just say it drops a valve or needs any engine work done ... do you know the exact engine spec and what was changed, and if you can still get any parts for it ? You'll have no idea of the number of "cludges" to get assorted non-standard parts (engine, Injection, ancillaries, clucth etc.) to fit and working together. Can you fix anything yourself as no Garage will want to get invoved.

Can of worms. Unless you know MX5s intimately and can buy with confidence. Otherwise do as others have done, and leave it well alone.

I would know full spec in I bought it, know the man who did it.

Will stress I don't want an MX5 unless it's something like this one. Really though I don't want something hard to get rid of so looking like 944 or an E30 at the moment. Decided to leave 8 series a while until I can buy a good one.

I like the mx5. Find myself looking at them every now and again for a bit of fun.

Bit too slow though

I will get an 8 but not until I can get a really nice one!

Rather fed up as don't know what I want really. Would like an M3 but could only afford an E36.

I don't like the image of them unfortunately as they are seen as chav carsnot the cars fault. Since when have I cared for traction control or other gadgetry?

If I go BMW route will probably be an E30 anyway as they are fast gaining classic status!

List currently goes:
944
E30 325i
E36 M3 hmm
Integra Type- R fwd...
Alfa Romeo GTVV6 fwd... again

Cant really get a really nice 8, don't want another MG (give them a break for a bit)

But when have you driven a 320bhp car with no traction.... Trust me it needs it unless you want to go through a few hedges backwards

Pre-SC 911? Depends on condition with a little luck £15,000 for an MOTed example with a sound enough body and chassis. . .

That's not too bad, I'm sure if you hold off on buying something you don't need now you'll get it soon enough. Otherwise you know your gonna start another thread in a few months saying how you've got no money and life is crap

Oh I've got to get rid of this 5 series its so slow and I really want to swap it, think I'll go for something fairly cheap, M3s are stupid money to insure. So looks like either an E30 a 944 or an E46, rather wanted something different but the Integra, and Alfa GTV V6/Fiat Coupe turbo are both more than I'm willing to pay insurance, don't think no NCB helps as I've been on a classic policy most of the tine, never held one policy for a year anyway!
