Brake Dust?

What is everyone doing about the brake dust on their car? I feel like I need to wipe the rims off every time I drive it. I heard ceramic coating them helps and sad that we never got the carbon ceramic brake option.

I was trying to get a pads discussion going here, but it hasn't taken off yet.

To reduce brake dust, you generally have to give up braking power.

I think there's a happy medium to be found, but then again, weekend warriors probably won't be able to perceive the reduced braking if they go with ceramics or something.

However, I'm seeing good things about the iSweep line of pads, they claim same bite with less dust. I'm considering their IS2000s.

A brake pad that produces less dust compared to factory OEM.

Users who are unsatisfied with OEM brake dust.
Far less brake dust compared to stock factory OEM brake pads.
Far less brake squeal compared to stock factory pads.
Roughly 10-20% more effective under typical city driving conditions.
The enhanced initial bite and braking control compared to factory OEM pads.
Tested in extreme winter conditions with effective, stable results.

IS2000

for STREET / SPORTS USER - Less Dust, More Bite

Raises the level of performance compared to factory OEM.

Far more effective performance compared to stock OEM brake pads.
Versatile brake pad for aggressive streets and winding roads.
Quick reaction to brake pedal input and excellent control of applied force.
Controlled linear characteristics and stable operation with no sudden or abrupt bite.

SUCH an important topic for low-dust pads. Cold weather bite is a real worry for ceramics, etc.

I ceramic coated my 827's. It helps to just rinse them off but that's it. I walked past my car this morning and noticed the front wheels look like shit after one tank of gas - roughly 12days of mixed driving.

100% low speed brake squeal and the dust is not good.

Boy do I love the car though

You got that right.
I have been importing them since my 2020 X3MC and it has been a great success where I expand the application and availability to F90 M5, F9x M8, F95/F96 X5M/X6M, and G8x M3/M4.
Good thing, G87 M2 shares the same brake as G8x M3/M4, therefore I have them in stock and just received my new shipment on Friday.

My M2 doesn't seem to be any worse regarding brake dust on the wheels than my other cars and one (Hellcat) with even bigger brakes.

I do to the M2 what I did to my other cars. Just take the M2 to a local DIY car wash and use the wand soap, rinse, no spot rinse settings to "blast" the dust from the wheels and to remove any dust build up from the brake hardware. This cleaning is generally a part of the cleaning I give the rest of the car to remove dust, grime, and bugs that the car collects from use.

On this last point I have found this wheel/brake cleaning cures mild brake squeal. The dust builds up on the brake piston dust boots and this extra weight interferes with the brake piston's natural tendency to retract slightly when the pedal is released. (The piston seals provide the bit of retraction.) If the piston fails to retract it drags on the rotor and develops a mild glaze that leads to brake squeal. It is important to after this -- and even after just a plain old washing -- to drive the car and use the brakes hard enough to get them hot and dry them thoroughly.

I have to admit too I don't obsess over brake dust. It is normal. Just every once in a while remove it as I described above as i do for the dust, bugs the car collects as I use it.
