A 6spd 325i will beat an auto Accord V6.
A 6spd Accord V6 will beat an auto 325I.

Those are the two easy ones to figure out.

An auto vs. auto will be quite close and will probably depend on who got the better start.

A 6spd vs. 6spd will probably depend on who gets the best start and who is the better driver.

The Accord is heavier. The Accord V6 is auto only in Oz, and the NRMA (National Roads and Motoring Association) tested it and achieved 0-100km/h in 9.4 seconds.

IMHO - The 325 Auto would easily cream it, and that is on a straight road, throw in some curves, and the Accord is mince meat.

so you think since we both have autos i would win/it would be close. Doesnt a RWD car usually get better starts then FWD?

I think this really depends on the driver, and in the real world, it would be the better driver who won.

But IMO, on straight specs, the 325 should win, all things being equal, because despite the 17kw power and approx 35Nm torque deficiency, I don't think the Honda auto would be as efficient as BMWs. Sounds parochial I know, but BMW and Honda build for drivers, but at different levels of the market.

isn't the v6 accord has more hp/torque compare to the 325? I would guess the Accord will win.

Yes only a little, and an extra 100kg in weight, and probably less efficient tranny, and FWD... power isn't everything you know, it is how well you apply it to the ground.

I have seen tests of autos in Manual mode vs full Auto, and in general the full auto mode gets the better result - computer shifts with precision at exactly the right spot. Also my experience during the test drive was that the manual mode was slow to react, thereby costing valuable time... my advise, let the tranny handle it's own shifts, you just floor it

race honda

I raced a manual honda coupe V6 in my auto 330i and it was VERY close, but wasn't exactly from still. Have a feeling it's 50/50 from 0-60 but then at higher speeds the beemer would start to edge. The accord manual coupe is listed at 5.9 0-60.

You will get a better launch with RWD. With FWD you are fighting with torque steer.

I know one thing is for sure. You will get a lot of abuse on here if you come back and tell us you lost to a Honda

Agree. Don't know where people get the perception that the manual mode (which is really little more than a marketing gimmick) improves acceleration.

Just because you're telling the computer when to shift doesn't mean the inefficiencies of the torque converter are suddenly irrelevant. Besides, the computer's sport mode is programmed to shift right at the ideal points in the first place.

It actually has to do with weight transfer (front to back under hard acceleration), not torque steer.

Why dont you race and tell us or maybe Ill do it for you....

My Friend Screen Name "Krasavchik" on this board just got his Black 6-spd MT 325i and he has a 2005 ccord Coupe V6 Auto......

I have a 325i 6-spd MT and had a 2004 Accord V6 6-spd MT......

-Let me say this...the accord feels much faster....it actually feels faster then even a 330i.....

-maybe this is just a feeling...I dont know....thats why I want to race the 2 cars or have someone do it to be bale to compare....

numbers

05 accord V6 = 240hp (old rate - New = Aprox -218hpSAE revised)
212 tq (New = aprox 200)

we all know that the 325 = 215/185

so the numbers are very close.......

I did not put up the 06 accord hp numbers since the 06 got a bump in hp so even with the revised SAE numbers it has 244hp....

-I really want to see this thing go down......

A big question would be which car transfers most of that power to the wheels. Car companies measure hp at the flywheel, not on a dyno. If BMW's drivetrain is more efficient, then that would certainly help...
