Best Sports Car since 1998

I have been lucky enough to have owned 5 of these little beauties in various incarnations over the years........ fill your boots guys before the 'Shitbox Revolution' gets into full stride and they become financially out of reach

Interesting to see 997 in there of all the 911s. A couple on the list for me, some of these may eventually hold their value somewhat but that is years away.

Great to see the little Mazda in there. The TVR and AM are questionable for me, just because of the financial pain of owning them (which I haven't mainly because of that).

I think an E92 M3, E46 M3 (maybe CSL) Z4M and 1M should be there instead of a few those.

A 997 Gen 1 Carrera with the chocolate engine, no thanks, a reliable TVR, Nope! The MX5 is Ok as long as you are under 6ft and as for the pay as you go Vantage that drives like a much older car!

A few there I would not give driveway room and I can think of others I'd rather have!

It's certainly a varied list. I guess each person's idea of a sports car is different, depending on what you are actually going to use if for (rather than what we image we'd use if for)

Regarding the AM, the are quite a few threads on Pistonheads from owners suggesting that generally not that expensive to run, given what they are.

Having had my pants pulled firmly down when I got my Boxster serviced a few years back, I wouldn't consider Porsche to be easy on the pockets

There are certainly some in that list that I would consider to be more GT than Sportscar and I would probably put the M2 Comp in that category as well as good as it is.

The Elise is a worthy winner and if any of you havent 'had the pleasure' I would strongly recommenf it.

The Elise is a pleasure to drive, I'd have another 111s but they are to much money now for a good one, a few downside's though, small, getting in and out and like the Caterham, you do look like a Berk to most other road users in them!

Managed one test drive in a Mk1 Elise - extremely good. Thoroughly enjoyed my old C7 1.7 Supersprint (mine was 155bhp so quite like the 310R I suppose) - the only time I’ve owned a dream car of mine. Just getting to know the S2000.

The Sagaris is wild but I lusted after the 350C - one of the very prettiest cars in my book.

Here’s one, with seats like BobaFett’s Ferrari…
