Fingernail scratch on steering wheel!

Well, just before my steering wheel cover arrived, it happened. My nail caught the steering wheel and left a scratch. Are there any easy ways to repair? I've heard it's NOT so easy. Steering wheel needs to be removed, sanded, and painted.

Obviously it's a fine scratch but you can feel it. Ugh.

Yeah, I hate those too. I restored a 1995 Buick wheel before, but I wouldn’t ever try that on a nice M wheel. Leather interior primer and paint, I’m living with a scratch on my truck’s wheel…so annoying when I catch it on a drive.

It’s the worst. I’m too OCD! I do have a new wheel coming that is 50/50 carbon and leather so hoping that helps a bit. I think it’s just a very soft leather - and whether it’s a nail or a zipper or something else, probably inevitable.

Agree that this is not a project I want to take on either.

Haha! There were no nails to scratch it with but this leather seems much softer than other wheels. Oh well.

Yep. Not my first choice but these wheels are expensive to replace.

Haven't decided HAHA. Just waiting for my new wheel, then the cover will not be required

They go away as the oil in your hands sets into the leather. I always notice them right away and they smooth out as you drive it. Don't think too much about it.

I had a horrible one on my Audi at one point that drove me nuts, 2000 miles later it was basically smooth.

It's a deep ceded evolutionary thing. See something new and don't want it all beat it. I totally get it, I'm the same way. Give it a few drives though and you won't notice it all.

Skip the steering wheel cover too, you'll find it wears much better than you think right now.
