Coming Soon...My E92 M-DCT Coupe

Hiya fellas,

New to this forum.

Confirmed my E92 Coupe M-DCT order today. Totally Psyched.... and April 09 delivery seems so close yet so far!!

Wanted to know how many Vic M3 owners are on here? I'm located in Parkville. Keen to know if anyone's organised drive days or meets yet?

Also any tips / FAQs to know before i take delivery? I read somewhere that the initial Kms prior to the first service needs to be restrained. Which begs the question, when's the first service? 5,000 kms?

Any gotchas to note when taking delivery and known issues?
It's my dream machine but I'm reading posts of the DCT stalling etc? How real or bad is it?

Anyone taken theirs for a spin on track yet?

So many questions.....

Here's my summary:
Spec: M3 E92 M-DCT, Space Grey, 19" Alloys, Fox Red, CarbonF roof, High End Audio, updated iDrive
Dealer: Bib Stillwell SY
Expected Delivery date: April 2009

Hi & welcome aboard

There's not too many actual M3 owners on here from Vic, maybe 3 or 4.

Aggie & I meet up for a coffee around South Yarra but he drives a new Porsche 911, which I could look at all day

I don't know when the first service is. I think the car will tell you when it needs one. Believe me, it tells you everything else..

Mine has stalled twice months ago. I was going to take it into the dealer for a check up but just haven't got around to it yet.

1) Get yourself the iPod cable.
2) Leave the traction control on at all times

What do you drive now?

Indeed I love the Tech in the car...iDrive etc etc...I'm such a NERD.
I just wished it had the Heads Up Display like the M5 or X6. My alternate purchase choice was the X6 5.0i.

Luke is your M3 an M-DCT or a manual? If M-DCT how did you stall as it's like an Auto.

I will certainly get the iPod Cable but I can't promise about the traction control.

I drive an E90 323i. 3 years old now and trading up to something a little more exciting.

If you guys are catching up count me in. Preferably in April so that I have something to show

Aggie - any photos of your "baby" 911? What colour? Would love to hear the sound from the engine.

Here you go - black on black:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=183304

The only sound track I could find quickly on the web was this at YouTube:

but that's a 997S whereas mine is a base 997. Most people seem to prefer the S but that would have cost me another $50-60k. So no go there.

Yes mine is a DCT. I don't know what to say, the engine just cut out on me when leaving a T intersection with a bus bearing down on me. I should of bought a Porsche but I'm waiting until I'm old or bald LMFAO!

When they said the M-DCT works like a manual I guess they were serious given the engine's ability to "cut out". Hope I don't have a bus in my case or a TRAM!

Don't worry - it's because Luke starts counting pedals from the left and not the right........ he thinks the brake pedal is a CLUTCH!!!!

Seriously, there have been a few software glitches with the DCT but most seem to have been fixed and BMW seem to be quickly sorting out the rest.

Thanks Aggie for the update.
Given your knowledge on the BMWs I'm surprised you ended up in a Porsche

We've had a few BMW's in the family (my wife drives a 2008 X3 now) and when I had the M3 on order I spent quite a bit of time learning about them. Truth be told I probably know more about them than my 911.

Ahhh Bavarian Motor Works runs in the bloodline! Good man.
My girlfriend just got herself a Cooper S in May last year so she's part Bavarian MW.

Hey Junkie,

Welcome aboard and congrats on the purchase, your gonna love the fox red. DCT issues i'd say will be fine when you get your car as there has been software upgrades over the last few months to correct the stalling issue. I've had no such problem yet.
Just a few weeks to go till Luke, myself and a mate head down to Phillip Island to give these bad boys a good run, can't wait

by thw way, What is required to take the car on to the tracks at Philip Island?
Helmets etc?
Cost? Insurance?

last time I was there was with BMW Driver Trainng Level 1. So we used their cars.
