Stunning! All it needs is an ICE TT V8.

Looks good. I'm sure the front bumper will be far more pronounced/muscular. The grille here seems to be the focus. In camo it's more sunken back. The lower half of the front bumper needs some aggression and depth.

So far it's looking promising. Even though we have quite a bit of time to go until it's here.

I also dig the door handles how you'll have to reach up and grab

I'll be the one to say it, the F90 M5 looks way better IMHO.

The front "gas" tank area for charging kills it for me. (And yes I know its for the electric portion)
You cannot replace the intoxicating sound of the TT V8 from the F90.

There's no doubt it (the F90) does: because if this render is anything close to the real thing, then we have a next-gen M5 that's very much in sync with BM's current fascination with exaggeration. What a grille (a Labradorian nose to counterpoint, somewhat eccentrically, its narrowed and theatrically angry little eyes..) And isn't there a rather liberal bit of front-end overhang? Folks are enthusing about the fact that this will have slightly bulged rear fenders; but they seem like a tepid compensation for the design language overall. Oh well, I suppose we'll have to embrace the 'new bulbousness' as a paradigm. An even bigger compensation, of course, would've been an unadulterated V8, but the hybridisation is going to make it sound pretty lacklustre, I'd wager, if the current trend toward acoustic quelling continues.

+1 on the door handles, very refined and very sleek!

Owning a 2019 M5 and soon 2023 M5, I'll happily admit this looks fantastic! I actually think this has that aggressiveness the F90 is lacking in the front.

I wonder if this will get a stouter version of the hybrid motor slated for the upcoming XM

As much as I love a pure ICE platform, 10-15% more out of the XM in an M5 will wipe the floor with the F90 and should still sound pretty good

I'll be getting one when available. Plug in hybrid meets my use case perfectly - electric only for the 300+ days per year we drive less than 20 miles, V8 fun for the others. No issue for road trips. My wife will probably never trigger the ICE (we are a one car household, but she pretty much only drives in town).

The weight is a thing, however.

Yes, the new car will have better 0-60 times for sure, but if it's heavier, longer, and wider I will need to drive it before I say I'm on board.

I would assume, and hope, that BMW engineers are smart enough to know that it has to defy the physics of what you read on paper and out perform the current F90.

I have no doubt that it will spank our F90s in straight line performance metrics, but I hope that they engineer some soul into it otherwise BMW is on a slippery slope

Wish they would just go full electric on this. Now I gotta charge it and gas it up. Kinda double the work.

Car looks great tho.

All renderings at the moment are pointless because there's a huge possibility that BMW will fcuk up the design at the end. Not holding my breath just for my own health reason.
