Those with chrome exhaust tips.......

I was wondering what people used to clean their chrome tips with? I have used alot of different chrome polishes and was curious what others used.

I use regular car soap then put a coat of wax/sealant on it.

Regular soap doesn't get everything out. I'm talking about the black residue that is in the inner crease/dip circle. Even though the crease is small, the black still catches my eye pretty clearly. I'm also curious as to what other people use.

I use a product by Eagle One that comes in a can. It is a cotton like material soaked with a cleaner made specially for chrome. After cleaning I use Maguiars carnuba wax.

The Eagle one product will clean off the carbon build up around the lip - with lots of elbow grease.

Try applying a sealant. The carnuba wax you apply most likely melts off after a day of driving due to the extreme heat of the exhaust.

I'll try carnuba on one pipe and then sealer on the other and see which works better. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I know the black rim you are talking about. In my case most comes off when I wash then wax it (cleaners in the wax). I use Mothers FX. Granted, if you want it to look like new then this method will not work well, but it does stay pretty clean.

I tried a mix of P21S Multi Surface Finish Restorer and 3M IHG with a small MF applicator. I had to work those little black perimeter marks fairly hard but they came out perfect. I then sealed with Zaino Z2Pro and now maintain them better. The black exhaust crap now just washes off and never really gets the chance to build up.

Yep, NEVR-DULL. I looked at the can this morning. It states its good for metals, not just chrome.

not a good test if you have a 330. The right one does not put out as much carbon. Just my observation.

Have you tried it on the exhaust tips? Does it scratch the finish?

Yes, I use it to clean the exhaust tips, and no it doesn't scratch them. It makes them like new. I've also used it on wheels (not my 162's).

I use P21S chrome polish soap. It works pretty well and doesn't involve too much work.

all carnuba and all normal waxes are not great for that. The heat will break down the product very very very fast and turn it white. Use this ive been using it for years. Best stuff for chrome and stainless steal.
